I know this has been done before, but im debating betw the two. I have the regular ps4, and last yr I upgrade my xbox one to the xbox one s for 4k blu rays. PS4 is my main console, aside for local mutiplayer games like injustice 2 or MK X (simply bc my bro and bro in law have xbox lol). Now i thought hey im gonna just wait for the xbox one scorpio since they're saying it'll be the true big difference console. But since the xbox one x announcement, I wonder would if I really should go the xbox route. I love my ps4 exclusives, and am so hyped for Last of us 2, Dayz Gone, and I know for a fact Im going to want KH 3 on ps4 because I have the entire collection on ps4. Alot of ppl have criticized the console for not being powerful enough and for lack of 4k blu ray player, but I have the xbox one s for 4k blu rays and the more i look into the difference betw the two, the more I find a big divide in opinions

My question is, will i be missing out if I decide to go with ps4 pro instead of the xbox x? Im leaning towards ps4 pro but worry if its a waste if it really is truly as underpowered compared to the Xbox One X as people say

NOTE: Pricing wise, I would sell the PS4 to put money towards the PS4 Pro so that helps. Hopefully I can get $200 for the console (has a 1 tb inside), which would mean I'd be able to get the pro for like $240 or whatever the tax amount would push it too.

Xbox One X on the other hand, I would be giving my parents the One S as a 4k blu ray player and spend the full $500 plus tax amount. Now I don't really mind the money as long as its truly worth it

If money isn't an option give away the S (it's always nice to gift things to others and we all know how much our parents did for us they deserve it) and get the X and keep the PS4 for exclusives. the X will make the bets usage of your 4k TV and be for your multiplats and playing with your xbox friends and use the PS4 for it's exclsuives. that's pretty much the same as i'm doing except I don't have an S. i'll give away my OG xbox one when i upgrade and keep my PS4. the pro fell a little short for me to get it

@hrt_rulz01: not really, I have little patience counting pixels and I sure as hell don't see the point in paying $100+ more to count pixels and get less games both in quality and quantity.

If you don't have a decent 4k HDR TV neither are a mandatory upgrade, since few games will run at 60fps on either console. While 4k down-scaled to 1080 offers some improvement in image quality don't expect 360/ps3 to One/Ps4 difference.

Thank you social much for all the answers guys! And sorry again if I started any less than honorable debates xD I think I'm either gonna go the Xbox one x route or just not get either hehe I love my current PS4 so since the pro isn't as big a leap I'll either get an Xbox one x wait for a next gen PS4

Can you guys imagine KH3 beauty that will hopefully see a release one day in true 4k at 60fps!!!!!! The latter isn't likely i know but still in 4k it would look amazing. Hey at least by the time slow Enix release the game the PS5 maybe out already lol jk

You win either because you have both systems already. :)

@Pedro: yeah honestly I'm not even stressing it too much, I'm gonna hold off and see if the Xbox One X is truly worth it and if not I'll stick with my already amazing systems.

Depends. If you want a high end gaming PC but in the form of a console. Then its obvious the Xbox One X is the clear choice. Will run everything far superior in terms of power, performance and clarity. I mean if you have a 4K TV with HDR. Then why not get a machine that runs a vast majority of its games in true 4K?

But if 2K upscale is your thing, then obviously it's the PS4 Pro.

You had an X1 and only got an S for the 4k blu ray? Scorpio was announced before the S launched...you couldn't wait? 4k movies just started coming out last year, there's still not even like 300 titles.

PS4 has great exclusives but the X1X is going to get multiplat AAAs for longer I think, and will run every multiplat better than PS4. Also Gold is better than + and Xbox game pass has no PS equivalent.

Only read your first post so don't know if you have a 4k TV to really get the most out of Pro or X1X.

Personally every multiplat I will play on the X1X, and when I get a Pro my only intention is to use it for the PS4 exclusives.

A lot of people seem satisfied with base PS4 visuals. You could keep your PS4 for the exclusives, and get a X1X for multiplatform and if you want any MS 1st party.

Buy a Switch. Complete the holy trinity.

Or just go with the one with your favourite exclusives (if you don't own a solid gaming PC both have a lot yo offer). I believe the X will smoke the Pro, having a faster hard drive, a significant RAM advantage on top of a far superior GPU will not only make games look prettier but also reduce loading times, and oh boy do current consoles suck at loading. BUT, all this is irrelevant if you don't like the games.

But seriously, get the Switch.

The Ultra Bluray player is worth price difference by itself (not even considering the large performance difference).

A much more powerful console/PC can display better textures. People around here only talk about resolutions, but better textures and or polycount is more important IMO. You're going to be able to tell the difference even at the same resolution.

Pro isn't that much better than a regular PS4. Xb1X is much better than both

What. The PS4 Pro is literally TWICE as powerful (200%) as the standard PS4. The One X is 30% better than the Pro AT BEST (if you're only counting flops, which is a really bad way of measuring performance).

The CPU is only 200MHz faster.

200MHz.

Also, Persona 5.

@Rikusaki: hmm intriguing. I mean I am intrigued by claims that the PS4 pro is fake 4k while Xbox one x is true 4k, I know some games upscale in the pro whilst some are native like kingdom hearts 1.5 2.5. Now is it true that the xbox one x is really just 30% better? I can't tell if thats alot or not that much lol and would 30% more really give us true 4k (native 4k) on more titles?

@kss1992: don't pay attention to that fanboy talk since they're basically eating up Microsoft's marketing talk without filtering out the bullshit. The fact is that having a machine that plays everything on native 4k is too expensive. Both, the Pro and the X1X will play the majority of games using techniques like dynamic or checkerboard 4k. The good thing is that many of these techniques are, for all practical purposes, as good as native 4k unless you stand next to the screen with a magnifying glass counting how many pixels there actually are there. Next gen consoles will hopefully show provide 4k + 60 fps which I believe that will make a significant difference gameplay-wise

According to actual game developers, the X1X is 50% more powerful than the PS Pro. Us gamers trust the developers more than some random forum gamers, lol.
