Xbox One Kiosk impressions

I finally was able to see the console and controller and 2 games live and in person. There was a kiosk with 2 consoles and 2 tv's in the middle of the mall. I need to note that it was drawing a crowd of people checking it out.

First of all the console isn't as big as some are making it out to be, it's actually pretty slick looking.

The 2 games people were playing were Forza 5 and Killer Instinct. I have seen many videos of Forza and it looked good but you really have to see it in person to appreciate how good it really looks. I was impressed, I didn't see jaggies and looked crystal clear.

KI also looked beautiful and fluid.....once again I was impressed with the visuals.

I played Knack on the PS4 at Best Buy and was not impressed visually ( if they had KZ:SF that probably would be different ) so in the Kiosk war X1 prevails.

Definitely agree here. Youtube washes out the little paintwork effects and stuff. I notice a few jaggies in FM5, but it's not as bad as FM4.

Love KI and yes Forza does look much better in person.

On topic, yeah, I don't understand why Sony only has Knack playable on their kiosks. Killzone and Resogun are far better graphical showpieces. And let's be honest, the point of the kiosks is to elicit that "wow shock factor" by showing consumers how much more capable these new consoles are...thus incentivizing them to buy one.

As for the M$ kiosk, my local Gamestop only has a display model without controllers running videos on a loop. Hopefully they will get the controllers in this week but I was pleased to see that the Xbox isn't nearly as enormous as people are saying. I thought it actually looked pretty slick.

I was looking for one of this consoles at my local mall this weekend, sadly only PS3 and 360 were available, the promotors told me that they will get a PS4 for next week, but they don't know when they'll get a X1.

And Knack isn't that much of a bad move because they want the casual crowd, remember most hardcore gamers know what to get in anticipation, but kids and their parents are the ones who need to be convinced and to a parent who is looking for a new console for their kids Knack is a much better choice than Forza or KI.

Out of all the next-gen games I've seen live, the one that will surprise the most graphically is Killer Instinct, Youtube/GS/IGN vids do it NO justice at all. the Sound, particle effects and fluidity are all top-notch.

@Spartan070: think you are mistaken, KI is only 720p, games are required to be in 1080p in order to look good.

Killzone is M rated and that's why they put it in the kiosk.

Killer Instinct is gorgeous and damn fun as well. Something tells me Microsoft is gonna hire some more people to help Double Helix get season 2 out so they can start working on the inevitable sequel. I bet Microsoft is surprised by the good press.
Forza 5 looks good as well but I am sick of real world tracks. These tracks are in every fucking racing game and it gets old after a while. But Forza does it better than everyone else, at least til Project Cars gets here.

PC had the most high scoring games last gen, and is first place for this new gen as well.

I don't know why Sony would choose Knack to show. I'm a huge Sony fan and will definitely be getting a PS4, but Knack looks no better than a PS3 game to me. KZ would've been much better.

I got to see Forza 5 last Thursday at Walmart and thought the game looked like crap for a next gen game. Different expectations I guess.

I played it a week ago for the first time and yesterday once more while waiting in line for the crazy deal future shop/best buy has on trade ins. cars looked very good but plagued by jaggies and the whole environment looked copy/pasted from current gen. This and Knack are the ugliest titles i played on a next gen system. I only tried these two with FiFA on ps4, KZ:SF, KI, Octodad tho

Amazing how this topic hangs around but I post something similar except playing the ps4 and xboxone (and posting pictures) and it gets closed telling me to blog it. This place has changed for the worse over the years...

exactly what i've been saying for a week (i did not try Ryse/DR3 tho). These two titles are very weak. The thing is, Knack didn't win any awards but F5 did won as the best looking game so what in the actual F is going on and who gave it that?

as someone who was able to test both next gen consoles i have to say i had similar experiences.

You can't even try KZ from BestBuy because its rated M and most people only tried garbage such as Knack while having access to at least Forza 5 and KI on X1. That's how.
