The Xbox One reportedly didn't even manage to sell 100 units in Japan last week.

In the same seven days that saw 25,000 PS4s and 15,000 Wii Us shifted, Microsoft's console achieved just ​99​ sales, according to figures from Japanese sales tracking company Media Create (via Kotaku).

they dont care about games. japan is just becoming more and more irrelevant to the console industry. if the xbox had a ton of crappy mobile ports and messaging apps it would sell like crazy in japan.

Don't blame them. Microsoft is infamous for making shoddy hardware. I went through 2 Xbox originals, and 2 Xbox 360's to get my fill. I don't even want to think of getting 2 Xbox Ones.

Shame Japan (and to an extent: the japanese gaming industry) is going down that route.

Perhaps one day, when everyone is bankrupt from in-app purchases, we can all arise and wake up from the nightmare that is mobile gaming.

Not having Gears of War must be hurting interest a bit. I know there was a degree of upset online over the the Japanese localisation of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition being canned, with existing consumers in particular expressing that they shouldn't bother releasing the system in that territory at all if they aren't going to support it.

@finalstar2007: I happen to love last gen and so do many people. So to some extent, last gen games do matter but not nearly enough to save a console on its own. Most of us kept our last gen systems anyway so there's no rush for backwards compatibility.

Gotta give props to MS for even trying. Seriously, with the fact that consoles are already becoming an afterthought in that market, combined with the historically terrible performance of their brand in that region, I'm surprised they even go through the trouble.

Yep always keep your last gen systems on you, heck my PS3 plays PS2 games and i only used it to play a PS2 game once.. as you said its nice to have but completely has zero affect on system sales

Another thread proving Salts thread about Xbox bias come true. Its alright though at least Xbox has games to play.

PS4 sold 25k and the WiiU did 15k during that same week so even though consoles are in decline in Japan the Xbox One's sales are just a massive failure that is brand problem.
