I am really surprised how bad the Witcher 3 looks on my xbox one is compared to my PC with an FX 6300 and a GTX 1050. It looks like a 360 port compared to the PC. That and the frame rate is double.

This thing is too weak for $300. MIcrosoft should discontinue this model and go Scorpio only, or drop the price of the S model to $200.

I actually expect Xbox to drop the price to $249 at E3 and have sales in the $199 range for the Holiday season. Everyone knows $199 is the sweet spot for sales in the US, the quicker MS gets to that price the more likely they can win a few months sales-wise here in the US.

Scorpio gets people talking about the brand, while X1S sits at the perfect entry price point with everyone who buys one knowing their games will work on Scorpio should they upgrade again in a year or two.

gtx1050 is 1.8 teraflop card and uses GDDR5 memory. Comparing it to a console that's 1.3 teraflops and uses DRR3 memory is dumb.

How much that GPU cost you? If you had to build a computer from scratch you have to buy all the components separately.

a 1050 is barely worth a PC build. I also would not even go as far as saying its "far more powerful" considering how games are built for console vs PC. It just doesnt make sense to buy a card that will be left behind maybe before the end of this year or early next year. I am calling the poster out because he made a graphics thread boasting about the power of his GTX 1050 that barely crosses the minimum requirements. We should do a Forza Horizon 3 comparison next that will really show us.

The XBox One can compete favorably against my laptop (i5 3230m, GTX 660m which is equivalent to an HD5770). Between the two, I'd take the XB1 if it was portable.

As a person who owns all the Witcher 3 on PC/PS4/Xbox One, I can say both Xbox One & PS4 versions of Witcher 3 looks great but still, PC version is still kings among kings but we both knew that lol.

Edit: Also and speaking of Witcher 3, I finally got around to playing Blood & Wine now.

This PC was built in Aug 2013. The r9 270 in there stopped working. I still want to play some of the ps4/PC stuff that won't come to Xbox, and I only play on a 720p TV, so $100 for a basic card made sense, because it can do just about everything at 60fps, medium 720p. Better than both consoles.

@killered3: Save for better textures, lighting, shadows, and number of on screen actors, you are right. For its power, the xbox one plays the game well enough. For it's price, $300, not so much.

@loe12k: It looks good on both platforms when outside, but even a lower end pc on medium like mine has the edge on frame rate, texture quality, shadowing, foliage distance, and especially lighting.

Not saying the xbox is bad or anything. I play mine a lot, just that it really isn't worth $299 anymore.

I bought my original 500gb xbox one a few months ago refurbished by ms for $200, so it was well worth it to me. If I didn't have so much money and games invested in this pc I built almost 4 years ago, xbox one would be my main gaming platform, and when that fx 6300 start becoming more of a problem in modern games, the xbox one will be my main platform.

The Xbox One is the only console worth owning, if you ask me, because of its superior controller, but the console is overpriced for what you get.

I also agree that it's great to just pop in a game and have it work without having to even think about anything else.

Maybe you like to hate on its optimization but for normal people, 220 is pretty reasonable. I got mine for $230 brand new. That's not very expensive and even then, it just goes down to me being more comfortable with consoles than pc's. Pc has its market, consoles have their own.

BTW, your version of a cheap pc accumulates to $300 not counting the cost of Windows.
