Xbox Marketing Boss Says 'Nothing Coming Soon' on Major Game Announcement Events :( (another borefest)

After rumours that Elden Ring would be shown at an Xbox event this month, Xbox Marketing Boss Aaron Greenberg has said that there is "nothing coming soon" with regards to Xbox events that would "feature game announcements or world premieres like this."Greenberg made the comments on Twitter while rebuffing reports that claimed a new trailer for Elden Ring - the hotly anticipated collaboration between From Software and George R. R. Martin - would be showcased during a rumoured March 23 Microsoft event.

Fans have been clamouring for more Elden Ring information to follow-up on the tantalising clip shown during E3 2019. "Just to set expectations: this is not happening," Greenberg said, before going on to explain that while "there are always things we have in the works," there are no events coming soon that would feature 'world premieres' or game announcements of a similar calibre

This suggests that we won't see a 'big' Microsoft reveal event for some time. Microsoft reporter Paul Thurrott had previously made the claim that an Xbox event would be held on March 23.

Rumours about Elden Ring have also been swirling recently, with Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier recently tweeting "there is strong evidence floating around that the game will be shown relatively soon." GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb also said on a recent podcast that we could potentially see more of the game by the end of March.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said in November 2020 that he had played "quite a bit" of the game, calling it Miyazaki's "most ambitious" project yet.

i'd imagine this will be the event where they talk about expanding Game Pass and other Xbox services.. which means there's a stong possibility of them discussing Bethesda games being exclusive to the service..

i'd also expect them to reveal Game Pass streaming for PC..

not exciting "world premier" stuff but getting confirmation of Bethesda exclusives along with game streaming coming to PC will be great announcements for the Xbox platform..

hopefully they do tie it all together with a few decent trailers for 2021 titles..

Nintendo and then Sony shit the bed, and now nothing from MS. Thank God parts of Ontario are moving into the Red Zone so I can at least go out and maybe grab a pint.

That's couragin lol, but how many times have they (Nintendo, Sony and ofc MS) denied big releases and then later on there has been one, or two.

Well, they have to publicly address the rumors before the hype gets out of hand, and since it's before the Bethesda acquisition, they obviously have to deny it just in case the deal catches a snag or doesn't go through. Expect an announcement regarding the event the day the deal goes through.

If there truly is no event this month, expect one within the coming months. If Forza Horizon 5 is preparing to release this summer as the rumors suggest, expect a big event regarding both Starfield, Forza Horizon 5 (which is presumably set in Japan) and Halo Infinite (Which is planned to have public flight tests the months leading up to release) before July.

Looking forward to more tangible teases with what they've already announced.

Fable, halo, skyrim thing look alike, cartoon thing, hellblade 2.

They don't have to announce anything new.

In other news, Xbox states the obvious.

Worth stating though instead of creating false expectation. Look how disappointed everyone was after the Sony deep dive and that Nintendo showcase.

We were in lockdown for a month and a half-ish, but finally in red. I'm in a heavy tourist area called Niagara-On-The-Lake, so we get a buncha people travelling here as soon as anything reopens.

Better to be upfront than say its coming and then delay it a year.
