I made a post a decade ago predicting that they would never abandon this completely. Game pass (and the temporary BC program) has given them a way to circumvent the opposition from consumers.

Knew we would arrive right back where we started. This industry will chase the most effortless way to generate profits as the race to the bottom accelerates. This is why they are using loss leading strategies as well; gets everyone there quicker.

Very concerning.

I’m just going to enjoy the systems and games for now and will decide what to do when or if these “dark times” ever materialize.

If they mess up with another console I hope it's their last console. Sony and Nintendo know what they are doing. There won't be a need for Microsoft's Xbox.

PS and Nintendo are going after the same thing… Publishers/developers want assurances in the ever growing digital games future. The big 3 have to provide them or they could miss out on these titles. They also want to protect their own software. Sorry folks, but this was a losing battle once you agreed to ditch your discs.

Problem is that Hermits think digital is a great idea while complaining that there are store exclusives on PC.

They will lose grounds in many country if that is the only version for the next xbox. Sure internet is much more available nowadays but having to use servers mean some countries will have latency issues.

Hermits make little to no sense to me most of the time. Launcher Wars is something I’ll never understand. And they are the biggest offender of “all bark, no bite.” Historically, Hermits have staged the worst boycotts in gaming history.

I'm so sorry for the people who got covered into an Xbox. I hope they leave gaming and good riddance to the brand. It has been nothing but a letdown.

These leaks are definitely icing on the cake, but I would say the dark times have already been happening. It'll just keep getting worse. Not planning to continue with new gaming beyond this gen. I'll just stick and be happy with everything I already have.
