Microsoft To Announce Xbox Game Demos & More On June 9th

https://exputer.com/news/industry/microsoft-xbox-game-demos/

Sources have said that Microsoft will be announcing several big announcements before Summer Game Fest on June 9th. One of the bigger announcements is that Microsoft will be launching a new service to seemingly compete against PlayStation Plus’ time-limited game trials that were announced earlier this year.

The feature will be coming to Xbox Game Pass members within the next year and will begin with a focus on helping independent game developers across the globe. Developers that choose to enrollin the project will not only get the necessary data needed for game development, but Microsoft will reportedly also be compensating developers for participating (exact details not disclosed).

In addition to this announcement, Microsoft will also be announcing an extension to their Samsung partnership, which will allow people to stream Xbox games on their Samsung Smart TV’s without a console via Cloud Gaming. They’ll be several smaller announcements too, including the expansion of cloud gaming to other countries to make the service more accessible.

It’s expected that the announcements will be made several hours prior to the Summer Game Fest show on June 9th.

Recently, Xbox Game Pass has been the pinnacle of subscription-based digital services and continues to dominate the Western market. Microsoft is expected to expand its horizons more with expansion to its Cloud Gaming and the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which will finalize by the summer of 2023. In addition to this, Microsoft is planning to increase its revenue capabilities by allegedly planning to add in-game advertisements to its free-to-play games.

Great news for sure. I think demos should be much more popular than they are. I miss the days of the Xbox Live Arcade when demos were mandatory.

If you have gamepass, you can download the whole thing... and an addition of a demo is supposed to be a good thing? Nice joke. If the requirement was only XBL, then that's a great addition, but needing gamepass, that's laughable.

Nintendo would do the same, but their online infrastructure from 1992 doesn't allow it😱

Meh. Seems kind of lousy putting demos behind a paywall. This gets a thumbs down from me. 👎

Well, if you already subscribed to Gamepass anyway, this is just a small bonus. But nobody would subscribe only to play demos.

Still, I like this initiative as it could help indie developers.

C'mon MS, I feel guilty enough.

Stop adding more and more goodies all the time or I'll be forced to voluntarily pay mooaaar for GamePass. lol :P

Agreed. Always. Imagine if we had to pay to watch movie trailers. 😬

Basically what gamepass is for me anyways, a way to demo a bunch of games. Happy to see this added.

Yeah, outside of MS giving money to the devs, this is the same BS that I complained Sony was doing - we are now paying for demos.

Back in my gaming days, demos used to be free for all gamers. Since when do gamers now have to pay to play demos?

What happened to just making a demo of game putting out for all to play and using it to get them to buy the game.

I've done this before in the past, I can't remember the name but there was one in particular that was designed to get you hooked, the demo ended and I bought the game there and then to carry on.

then we got what we have now. no demos or maybe 2 demos a year.

people don't realize demos were really never free.

demo disc we got in the past we had to buy the magazine to get the free demo disc.

maybe if they make it behind the gamepass or ps now pay roll we would see demo after demo which would be great if we got to play before we buy.

Gaming Mags were always a thing but if you were a subscriber such as GamePro, Tips n Tricks, etc they usually came free with demo games that are legit good demos hence free.

you have to pay for those gamepro magazines.

just like ps plus games that are free are really not free. ps plus cost money.

I do miss those game disc demos though.

I remember I got one with level of motorstorm for ps3 and played it over and over.
