https://www.techradar.com/versus/dualsense-edge-vs-xbox-elite-controller-series-2-which-is-the-best

They are comparing the following:

  • Price/Availability
  • Design
  • Features
  • Performance/Battery Life
  • Final Verdict

TLDR:

  • XBX - Price/Availability
  • XBX - Design
  • XBX - Features
  • DS5 - Performance
  • XBX - Battery Life
  • XBX - Final Verdict

DS5 - 3.5/5 Reviewed

XBX - 4.5/5 Reviewed

What say you fellow SW friends? After owning both controllers, are you impressed with them compared to the standard controllers that come with each respective console? For me, I am happy I bought both of these. The DS5 was a nice improvement with the added weight over the standard DS5. If the DS5 had asymmetrical sticks, it would be a dead heat tie for me when comparing them both together. That premium feel of the controllers never get old.

Both are overpriced shits. The Xbox controller is known to fall apart as well.

My Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 and Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 -Core have zero issues. Than again, neither does my DualSense Edge.

Love my Xbox elite controller 2, I believe I got it for the half the price of a Sony Edge controller.

I'm not getting an Edge controller, zero interest, the Dualsense is perfect and only costs $70 so it's a tough sell.

No. Use it before you can review a product.

I usually go with the Xbox controller just for ease of use on PC. DS work fine on PC but I've had some kinks that need to be worked out in the past with them. I still have a soft spot for the Razer Wolverine series. My V2 Chroma has been my faithful companion for a while.

Haven’t tried either but the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 looks more comfortable, has a longer battery life, and has the analog sticks in the correct placement so those are pretty big pluses for me. Having said that though I’m pretty content with just using the standard controllers anyway.

The regular dual sense is perfect as is. The elite looks like a big step up from the base Xbox controller; even ditches the AA batteries. Symmetrical analog sticks is the correct placement, as both sticks are generally used the same amount.

They're both super expensive and use shoddy lowest bidder potentiometers. I'm sticking with base controllers if these things barely survive a couple years anymore.

Even if I were to consider the Edge for their replacement analogs, I'd still need to replace the analogs a great number of times before breaking even, the cost equivalent of buying several replacement controllers themselves, and hope nothing else breaks on the controller that isn't replaceable.

I much prefer 4 back buttons compared to 2 but Elite controller very widespread QC issues causes me to go with the Edge controller.

I bet Hardwenzen wishes he could afford a Series 2 or DS Edge controller. Even if he could, they wouldn't connect to his Commodore 64.

So did I. I never owned one. My friends dad was a computer nerd, so I went to their house to play on theirs. Then their dad got a C128, and we crapped our pants.

@hardwenzen: what's that you should use something before reviewing it.

Maybe you should take your own advice and give us some peace.

GuliKit is working on some Hall joystick modules for the DualSense Edge.

It may be a while before you break even but, you're also getting a better controller at the end of the day.

I am know what i am talking about before even having played or tried it. I am an expert at these kind of things, and by now, you should know that already. Look at Halo Infinite. Look at Forgotten. I am an expert.

Such a fanboy. The Elite controller is a joke. $30 noname controllers will last you longer than it. And the fact that they originally offered only a 3 months warranty (until it got them in court🤣), you know damn well this thing was made to milk the clueless dudebros that play CoD, and think they'll go pro with an "Elite" controller😂

I own two Xbox elite series 2's (white and a black) and a Razer Wolverine v2 pro for my PS5. Decided on the Razer over the dualsense because of its offset stick layout and 4 paddles.

I'll stick with dualsense. Much cheaper and is the best controller ever, imo.

Just look at the stick placement. The Xbox has the left stick located where human thumbs wants to rest naturally while holding a controller. So it's automatically much better than the Dualsense. Sony should start designing their controllers for humans.
