This is not a rumour based on solely this Tweet, people in the know in the Rockstar community have been talking about some form of an acquisition for months:

Also, x2 5c has acquired Klei Entertainment as of yesterday, however that acquisition is unrelated to the BIG one yet to come.

Who the hell is this x2 5c or wtf? Is this a Chinese company buying out one of the only devs around aiming to deliver quality polished products?

Whether Tencent creates it or buys it, I am not interested in playing it.

Why refer to Tencent as "x2 5c"? Regardless of how gamers feel about Tencent, do we really need silly euphemisms to refer to it?

Always take every Twitter rumour with a grain of salt. I'm sure once it is confirmed, we'll hear of it soon enough.

That said, after what 2K did to the NBA 2K series, I think they're made for each other. Tencent owning Firaxis would suck a bit, but I heard they have a hands-off approach to creative decisions, so I still expect XCOM 3 to be ace. Might even get a proper budget behind it.

As for GTA... ...meh. Never bought a GTA game, and haven't played one since San Andreas, and as far as I'm concerned, San Andreas was the last good GTA game.

Well they certainly have the cash to do it and if their past is anything to go by, they can definitely do it.

There were rumors months back Rockstar wanted to put GTA6 on their own digital market front on PC. If that is true I can't imagine they are keen on selling. Not sure if PC gamers should care, except Tencent is more receptive at making Epic store exclusivity deals that last longer, like year long Control exclusivity and timed PS4 DLC exclusivity, compared to the one month Rockstar gave Epic for RDR2... then again Rockstar has record of focusing on consoles and making PC gamers wait for ports so might be better for PC gamers overall.

I was giving the benefit of the doubt some might not be pointless. 😥

GTA 6 plenty of main story about 1st genners, fams, i*migs, gangs and all that.

Rockstar should make netflix series. thier "games" are bad yet story, characters and experience is good.
