XboneX holds up pretty well and is excellent value for money I would say but people like Ron have been completely rekt.

Out of the 6 games tested the GTX 1060 won in 4 of them and tied in only 2 with the XboneX.

It's nowhere near a GTX 1070 like the clown claimed. The price to performance ratio is excellent though, especially now that GPU prices have skyrocketed it would be good for anyone looking for midrange PC performance at a decent price. Especially if you don't care about the lack of exclusives, mods or running your games at 60fps. It also proves that you don't need a $1000 PC to wreck the XboneX, more like $600-700.

"? Bu...bu....bu....but Ark dev said it is like a GTX 1070!!!1"

"? B...bu...bu....but Forza wet track!!11!"

Didn't care to watch a 15 minute video, but unless they used equivillent Jaguar cores@ 2.3ghz then it's flawed. Both the Pro and the X would hit easy 60fps with just an i3. They don't lack graphics power.

Not watching the video, but what are the games?

I have the 1060, ran forza 7 at 4k with everything on ultra and got 44 to 63 fps. Was actually kinda impressed

Huh. I didn't even know the GTX 1060 can do 4K. I bought mine strictly for 1080p. Oh well. I guess I can keep my GTX 1060 until the crypto-mining craze dies down.

Yea it does 4K pretty well especially if you own the 6GB variant.

You might be stuck doing 4K at medium/high settings at 30fps on newer games but it's better at 4K than even the X.

Best case for me is going 21:9 1080 res. To me, that's more of an improvement than 1440p or 4K (both 16:9).

Wait a second there. He has The Witcher 3 running at Medium settings/4K on PC. That's not equivalent to the Xbox One X version which is much closer to the Ultra preset than the Medium one. Xbox One X is closer to a 1070 than a 1060. This video compares the Masher Pro to the Xbox One X, not the 1060 to the GPU inside the Xbox One X. The CPU muddles the comparison.

Edit: Never mind. Probably close to the High preset on Xbox One X, not Ultra.

Edit 2: Holy shit, it's actually not that close.

I have to give you some credit as this thread isn't too terrible I must say. Since you are trying to be fair I guess, I will make some points that I think are worth mentioning.

That PC is not really realistic. I mean yes you can build that for $450 and he's being honest about the performance. However, who would want a potato masher? What most people would build is not a potato masher but rather a decent PC. If you want something decent with a 1060 6GB GPU, then you're going to be around $1,000 for that. Even if the 1060 goes down to about 260, you're still going to end up pretty close to $1,000 if you build again a decent system.

Let me be clear, I am not saying a potato masher is not an option and the performance is there against the X. What I am saying is that having noted that point, most people don't want a potato masher, they would rather have an honestly decent build that will most certainly run you much more than $450 and will be closer to the $1,000 range.

I will make one final point. Although his comparison is as fair as he could possible make it, it isn't very scientific. For example, he guesses a lot about the visual quality settings and framerate. Other than that, kudos to him for a nice video that is informative and I found worth watching.

Former GTX 1070 here. (1080Ti owner now) I can definitely see some games running slightly better on the same level 1060 to X1X. But in this case, it won't be on par with PC due to CPU limitations. I'm expecting some very nice looking games, very comparable to a PC with a 1060. But I don't expect them to run at a comparable framerate which is a letdown.

Neither did I. Hell, even I didn't know a 1070 can run 4K games and if I had known that, I would've consider buying a 4K monitor but then again, I just think both the 1060/1070 are well suited for 1440p gaming.

I do 4K gaming all the time on my 1070 and even at ultra settings. Some horribly optimized games don't go much higher than 30fps at ultra settings but all I need to do is tone things down to a mix of high/ultra and I can get 4K/60 in most of my games. When I decide to go 1440p though I can hit ultra settings with 60fps and higher on all my games. The GTX 1070 isn't bad for 4K gaming if you're willing to compromise a bit and it's definitely more capable at 4K gaming than an X. From what I hear though even the 1080Ti struggles to hit 4K/60fps consistently on ultra on every game. I think we have to wait for Volta to get 4k/60fps and above with Ultra settings on all games.

I agree with all your points, the X is still better value for money if you're building a system from scratch. Thanks for being civil about it.

I tried to be fair with my OP and I'm glad you noticed :).

That's because your target frame rate is 60fps which even the 1080 Ti struggles with at 4K. If your target is 30fps, the 1070 is more than capable.

@daredevils2k: You're welcome bro.

? Yea, he's probably foaming at the mouth right now. The purpose of this thread is to inform lems like him that have their heads buried up Crapgamer's butt. The 1X is a powerful console but it ain't no supercomputer and even a budget mid-range PC can outperform it. There's this myth out there that you need a GTX 1080/1080Ti to outperform the 1X which is a complete lie as even the 1060 is good enough to outperform in 4K gaming especially 4K gaming at console settings.

I don't think you can go potato enough to match the POS jaguar in the X1X.

Any modern CPU he uses will still wreck the Xbone.

Lems can't read lol.

For those still surprised that a GTX 1060 can do 4K, this is for you guys, a GTX 970 doing 4K with some overclocking. DF did an analysis several months back where they tried to get all the Crysis games running at 4K and they were able to do it on a single GTX 970....

Loading Video...

They even got the Forza Horizon 3 and Forza 6 Apex running in 4K as well on a GTX 970...

Loading Video...

Keep in mind, this is with overclocking but it goes to show why a GTX 1060 (a card a little bit more powerful than a GTX 980) is more than good enough for 4K gaming with console settings.

Not bad if Volta does come out this year and Nvidia masses produces them so GPU miners don't snatch them all up and make prices skyrocket again I might be able to build my mini itx gaming rig this year. I want to build a rig capable of 4k-1600p gaming.

It's also pretty sad how just like the original 8th gen consoles their mid gen upgrades still did not beat or even rival current enthusiast/high end PC hardware at release and at best were mid range and people could still build PCs that didn't cost too much more than them before the price hiking.

@quadknight: We'd have to get really old CPUs just to get on the jaguar level of the Xbox One's CPU.

Ron you clown.

You need to stop talking out of your ass and covering up for clowns like him.

It's well documented he believed even the GTX 1080 was less powewrful than a 1X at some point. He later toned it down to GTX1070 performance level after he was owned by DF analysis. But the fact remains that he believed you needed a GTX 1080/1080Ti to get better performance than a 1X.

I agree with you here. The 21:9 at a lower resolution beats out the regular 16:9 high res stuff. Especially since video cards can barely run 60 fps ultra settings in 4k on many games.

Although, I'd love to upgrade to a 2k ultrawide screen. When stuff finally comes down pricing, I'll probably jump on them.

He used an I5 clocked at 3.7Ghz.

Shouldve used a potato CPU as well to give a more accurate representation.

I can see what you're trying to get at, but the point the guy was making is why go for a crappy cpu when you can get a much nicer cpu for a cheap price? I'm sure the weaker cpu would bring the PC down to the same level as the x1x.

It tells you something 'bout the power since the X doesn't have Windows and all its operations running behind the scene, slowing it down. Still can't beat a 1060... I like the console none the less.

Edit: Wait a minute, does it actually run a full Windows 10? :D

The X1X has a GPU in it that is roughly equivalent to an Radeon RX 580 8 GB which is also rated at 6 teraflops. The RX 580 competes with the GTX 1060 6GB. They trade blows for the most part but in some games the RX 580 will perform considerably better. The X1X GPU is actually a touch better than the RX 580 and in some games will have a considerable performance advantage over the 1060 6 GBs.

This is crazy for a console. In contrast, the PS4 Pro doesn't even come close to a GTX 1060 6GB, they're not only in different ballparks, they're in different leagues.

@Xplode_games: You’ve got that the other way around buddy. It’s the RX 580 that gets outperformed by GTX 1060 in most games.

What happened to the 1070 comparisons?

They trade blows, in some games the 1060 wins, in some games the RX 580 wins. There some games where the RX 580 has a considerable advantage over the 1060 for example Destiny 2.

In select games it will be close to a 1070 which is amazing for a 6 teraflop GPU roughly equivalent to an RX 580 8GB.
