I plan on picking one up in late 2015/ early 2016 for Halo 5. Wouldn't be surprised if it's $299 by then.

This is a good deal. But shows how bad the console must be doing. To drop the console a total of 150 dollars in the first year is not a gleaming example of "doing well"

Great price and with Sunset Overdrive coming out, it should provide a much needed boost.

This is why I find it weird that fanboys want their console of choice to have the highest sales so badly when in reality it generally benefits them more if their console is losing because it makes the company get more aggressive to try to become #1, like Microsoft has been doing the past few months or like Sony started doing in the second half of last gen when they were losing.

If your console of choice is winning then the company goes into cruise control and stops putting in much effort like Sony has obviously just been in cruise control since the PS4 launch with no deals and few system updates.

I could see this being a permenant price cut and they are just advertising it as "limited time" to stimulate urgent buying behavior in people by making them think if they don't buy now they will soon lose the opportunity to do so at this great price and then in January they announce that the price cut is permenant.

At this rate the X1 will be cheaper than the Wii U soon. I should've waited. No console has really had this many price reductions or "sales" in it's first year.

Both consoles should get a REAL price cut real soon. Cheap AMD APUs: nothing special no fancy hardware(aside from esram). Look how far AMD GPU's plummeted when nvidia launched Maxwell. Should see ps4/xbone slash $50 a year minimum
