Is it just me or does Ghostwire Tokyo look like a shit game now?

We went from this...

To this....

It looks ridiculous and lost all the atmosphere and tone from the first trailer. This is why I hate CG trailers for showing games. It is not representative of what the game actually is.

Agree I'm looking forward to this one. Anything japanese horror related imagery (or Lovecraftian) I am a sucker for. Looks cool.

Looks good, but yeah a bit underwhelming compared to the first reveal.

Looks like a Shadow Warrior game.

Yup, looks pretty cool. Not exactly hyped, but definitely interested in seeing more.

Also, it's Shinji Mikami. Just about everything he's directed ranges from good to straight up excellent.

Yeah it definitely turned into something that I wasn’t expecting from the initial reveal. However I think it still looks great and something that I’m very interested in playing.

I guess it could be worse. We went from atmospheric and intriguing to first person karate chops and hadoukens. With Death Stranding... we went from atmospheric and intriguing to a delivery simulator.

Shinji Mikami is a very talented Director so i trust him but man, gotta admit we all expected Ghostwire Tokyo to tap in Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks strength, the horror genre and not whatever the trailer shows.

Who knows it might be fun AND scary. good luck Tango!

I agree, the original reveal had me stoked, but the actiony take in the gameplay is way out of sync with the ambiance.

I'll keep my eye on it, but I worry the gameplay will ruin the setting (rare one gets to say that)

I mean, again tho. Mikami lol.

Sure he's the guy behind Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Evil Within, etc.

Buuuut he's also the guy behind God Hand, Vanquish, Resident Evil 4, etc.

And a producer on games like DMC, Killer 7, Viewtiful Joe, etc.

Not exactly some one note horror guy, he's also known for his action as well as mixing the two.

This looks exactly like a Mikami joint so far.

It's made from the Japanese studio that did The Evil Within and not much else. I don't think they have much experience. Not very excited for this one.

The first footage is nothing. It's not gameplay, it's not anything. Conceptually I'm at least interested to see Mikami, or at the least (if he's more likely producing and not directing) a japanese spin on a FPS besides Resi 7.

It's not a looker visually tho, I assume its a cross gen title. Much like The Evil Within was if I remember right.

It's good to see other Shinji fans on this board. So many people give him sh_t, but I love basically everything the dude does. He has such a knack for mixing genres in super surreal ways. Some of his games, particularly TEW, are literally like dreams.

Yup, talented dude with a lot of range. One of those designers who can deliver on tight gameplay while also introducing fresh ideas.

There are probably a lot of unknowing fans on this board tbh. People tend to associate games with a company name rather than the directors/designers. Dudes director/producer history ranges from all out mega hits to more cult classic shit that resonates well with core action and horror fanbases, but most people just think "oh yeah Capcom" lol.

That being said, after reading Champs post I am a bit curious about who's heading up this game and to what degree Mikami is involved.

Either way, can only wait for more footage, but at least it looks interesting so far.

The first game was pretty good I found the second game worst they should of stuck to being more linear also the combat in the sequel doesn't feel as good as the first game.

Wtf fo you mean it went from this to that? The first video has zero gameplay.

Not a fan of vanquish. But Mikami made the goat re4, so I’m not going to write it off.

Mikami probably isn't even directing the game. Evil Within was his last outing as a director, his whole goal behind the studio is helping new younger leads.

This is what happens when you blow your load on a cinematic trailer, only to be disappointed by the eventual gameplay reveal. That is why I pay no attention to cinematics.
