@mclarenmaster18: the gap between PS5 and XSX is much smaller than the current generation. PS5 is theoretically 15% slower, while the PS4 was 35-40% faster than XOne. People are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think the difference will be very noticeable.

Not true because with RDNA 2 the more then 2 tflops of power on the GPU in the XSX because of RDNA it's actually more like 3-4 tflops more GPU power translating to more like a 30%-40% power difference in favor of the XSX

@ronvalencia: ""Most of the same" at 2230Mhz wouldn't be 2230 Mhz average."

I know, most of the time would mean more than 50% of the time. Average would be 50% of the time.

@hardwenzen: No it won't. It'll upscale from 1080p to1440p. I thought you were talking about 2k though, unless that's what you meant.

man you went full lem on this. The devs used clever phrasing and you totally fell for it. It will do 4K/60hz and will support 120hz. The resolution at which the game will run at to enable 120hz was left out. Expect 1080p/120hz.

@i_own_u_4ever: Don't they both use RDNA 2? So comparing apples to apples it'd be closer to the 15%.

The standard ps4 upscales from 1080p to 1440p, and it looks sooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. Everything is blurry as hell. What the XboneX does is supersamples the image from your 1440p monitor to the maximal resolution of the game (1800-4k). The Pro doesn't do that, and i don't understand why. Its been years since this system came out, and they've never released a patch to support 1440p natively. If PS5 doesn't have this either, that would be a colossal failure.

@hardwenzen: That's cool. I didn't know xbox did that. I think like 90 something % of ps4 gamers probably either use a 1080p or 4k display which is why they didn't bother with a patch. I dont feel like I wasted my money on the Pro, just from the small bump in fps on games like god of war and the ability to get the most out of a SSD, but its definitely a joke of an upgrade. Fortunately i only spent $50 more than a base ps4 on it.

I know, most of the time would mean more than 50% of the time. Average would be 50% of the time.

For 2230 Mhz average, PS5 GPU has to exceed 2230 Mhz to negate below 2230 Mhz dips, but it's capped to 2230 Mhz

For example, 50% 2230 Mhz and 50% 2207 Mhz yields 2218.5‬ Mhz average (10.222 TFLOPS).

ASUS ROG RX 5700 XT Strix's 10.275 TFLOPS average needs to exceed its 2007 Mhz average

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-5700-xt-strix-oc/33.html

ASUS ROG RX 5700 XT Strix's 2056 Mhz samples countered 1801 Mhz samples for 2007 Mhz average.

The average is between high and lower values in a number of instances.

Your "2230 Mhz average" argument doesn't fit the mathematical average definition.

That means he saved himself from a shitload of disappontment and buyer's remorse.

I've quit Nintendo after i got Wii and only thing i miss on is the Zelda series - which had only one noteworthy entry (BOTW) since the last game i played (SS).

/EDIT: Sorry, i meant YOU saved YOURSELF.

@ronvalencia: Where did I say that was an average? I said it stays at 10.2tflops most of the time. That's directly quoted from digital foundry.

Is it about what the console supports or what the games will support?

Eventually they'll push the graphics of these games to the point where the hardware can't really produce high frames and high resolutions. It's the console way. A mid gen console can, because it's turning the settings up on games designed for the standard hardware. Early games will run like this, but after a year or two, I doubt it.

"Average would be 50% of the time" <--- this is flawed.

Maybe PS5 Pro can hang with Series X. We'll see.

@ronvalencia: Average would be taking the time it ran at it highest and the time it ran at its lowest, add that time up, divide by 2(or 50% of total). Not sure why you aren't getting this. And not sure why you keep talking to me about average when I never mentioned that in my OP.

12 Tflops is not enough to run next-gen graphics in 4K/60 at all lol. I'm telling you an XSX couldn't even run Control at 4K/30, let alone a 2022 or 2023 game.

Control and Quantum Break comes from the bloatware programmer team i.e. Remedy Entertainment.

Battlefield V runs better than Remedy Entertainment's bloatware.

@i_own_u_4ever: Don't they both use RDNA 2? So comparing apples to apples it'd be closer to the 15%.

Memory bandwidth difference for render target workloads between XSX vs PS5 is 25%

RX 5700 XT is already memory bandwidth bound since it didn't scale from RX 5700.

Expect AMD's RDNA 2 with 36/40 CU replacement SKU to sport higher GDDR6 rated memory modules beyond RX 5700/RX 5700 XT/PS5's 14000 Mhz e.g. 15500, 15600 and 16000 later in 2020.

256 bit GDDR6-14000 yields 448 GB/s <---- AMD's current-gen GDDR6 memory bandwidth for RX 5700/RX 5700 XT which Sony recycled for PS5

256 bit GDDR6-15500 yields 496 GB/s

256 bit GDDR6-15600 yields499 GB/s

256 bit GDDR6-16000 yields 512 GB/s

------------

320 bit GDDR6-14000 yields560 GB/s

AMD has three incoming PC GPU ASIC with RDNA 2 GPUs i.e. NAVI 20, 21 and 23 which could correspond to the following

RX 6700 XT/RX 6700, 40 and 36 CU, 256-bit bus GDDR6

RX 6800 XT/RX 6800, 56 and 52 CU. 320-bit bus GDDR6

RX 6900 XT/RX 6900, 80 and 72 CU. HBM v2E

AMD's "big NAVI" with 80 CU is also RDNA 2 which has nearly 2X of PS5's GPU power.

Notice NAVI 2X which indicates more than one NAVI 2X RDNA 2 design.

I doubt it.

Also how is this "next generation" racing looking worse than Forza Horizon 4?...

Anyone here actually played 120Hz/120FPS with a controller?... I have and news flash its not as big of a difference from 60 due the the slow sluggishness of the thumb sticks and racing games don't benefit much from Hz above 60, 120Hz/120FPS makes a big difference to a mouse because they need to be able to the cheese out the trap.
