WOW Halo 3 has sold more in one hour than Killzone 2 since it released.

Just to put things in perspective about software attach rates. I was thinking about it, and Halo 3 sold more copies in its first hour of release than Killzone 2 has sold lifetime. That is mind blowing when you really think about it. Whats it going to take to get PS3 owners to buy games? it saddens me because Sony has a great passion for good quality games and yet PS3 owners say no, they dont buy.

Halo is a well established and critically acclaimed franchise. Killzone is not.

Think of it this way, how many big selling, crazy popular titles did Sony bring over from the PS2 to the PS3?

Ratchet? MGS? GoW? None of these come anywhere near the popularity of Halo or Mario. In fact, the only thing Sony has that's anything like those games is GT5, which is taking its sweet time to come out.

Of course, that doesn't explain why games like GeoW (new IPs) sold more then anything on the on PS3. It could be price, advertising, public appeal, etc, but basically, games don't sell on the PS3 and its pretty strange...

Old but worth noting. Larger fanbase, marketing, track record, cliff-hanger sequel, and familiarity. I won't argue KZ2's quality, but it was these things that gave Halo 3 it's success.

For how well it scored, Killzone 2 is one of the most underrated, under appreciated games this gen. I didn't even bother playing it until last month. The game was phenomenal. The controls, which were a pain to learn, were great. The firefights and cover system were awesome. I thought Brian Cox as Visari was amazing. The soundtrack was awesome too; I still listen to the songs on Youtube every week.

Why is this still being brought up?

PS3 may have a more spread out audience than the 360. 360 fans are usually shooter fans and GeoW was the best game on the 360 when it came out so that my be why. PS3 owners are more diverse in gaming taste, and many of them use it just for bluray.

As of December of last year it had a 8.1 attach ratio.

You can't play graphics, that is why Killzone 2 didn't grab up a huge fanbase. Halo's gameplay almost unmatched on consoles and thus it continues to be so popular.

As for attach rates, I really don't understand why PS3 owners buy so few games. Maybe a lot of them own both systems and buy all the multiplats on 360 like I do. I usually only buy games on PS3 that are exclusive, like Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2.

I thought Killzone 2 was fun, but if the game didn't have such great graphics I don't think it would have gotten much attention at all, nor would it have gotten barely any AAA reviews. It depends too much on graphics and not enough on lasting gameplay. The online got boring after only one month for most people on my friends list.

God of War is as popular if not more popular with the PS3 owners, as Halo is with 360 owners. Mario beats every other game in popularity because he's been around so long that you really cant miss him. He's always been nintendo's flagship title and almost every mario game is good if not awesome

I agree with this also about the controls. Once you get a hang of them they are fine but I won't call them great. It was an exceptional game and I also wonder why PS3 games don't sell as well. I mean even U2 which seemed like it would sell really well might only do 600K. Not bad but certainly nothing groundbreaking. I guess most people really do only use the PS3 for blu-ray and light gaming.

And the PS3s attach rate is 7.9so they're really not that far apart.
