Poll Would you rather get an Xbox One X or a new PC? (133 votes)

Xbox One X 44%
New PC 56%

I like the idea of the Xbox One X as a console. Having a heavy hitter like that in such a small form and at a $500 price point is awesome. But the big drawback is lack of exclusives. PC would have the same hardware plus exclusives. If MS had made a bigger investment in software, I would get one. But for now it's PC for me. What about you, SW? Which one would you choose?

I'm fine with my PC and my target aspirations do not involve 4K, limiting myself to 60 FPS and 60hz refresh rates, so the Xbox One X is a perfect fit attached to my TV.

Also this question will by most be unreasonably answered for the PC as it is a question asked freely mitigating peoples financial situations, obligations and realistically how unaffordable a new PC actually is, let alone one that can match this console.

It's a loaded poll and no real or useful information can be garnered from it.

If you are strictly using it for playing games then the One X is a no brainer buy.

Already upgraded my PC, and i'll do so again before i'm tempted to buy an Xbox. Hopefully, we'll start to see far more W10 titles release on Steam, as opposed to the Windows Store.

That should have been the question..

"Would you rather get an Xbox One X or a new $500 PC"

It's totally skewed and poorly thought out, of course someone would want a new $4,000 PC that they can't actually afford...

Already have a great PC.

Would still rather upgrade my PC or get a new one.

X1X just doesn't have any appeal to me.

A g4560 gtx1050ti 8gb ram pc with 380w corsair psu (Id never use included in case or very cheap psu) case. ddr4 motherboars..hdd and possibly ssd for boot. keyboard mouse. ios (25€ w10 kingwin) and you get a computer that costs more 600€ without a blu ray disk player (I like my blu ray movies a lot being a collector).

xbox one x for 500€ wins in power (compared to a similar priced pc)

p.s. I saw 1050 ti price rise from 160 to 190€ and g4560 costed 60 now 90€ so that pc just got an even higher price than before.

so xbox one x is a no brainer

I'd rather spend the 500 dollars on my PC getting an upgrade, I would get more bang for my buck. Wouldn't even need to spend all of it so I could actually buy some games with that money, too. That's assuming budget is the same.

Obviously a brand new PC would be slightly more expensive (not thousands of dollars more expensive, I still don't know where you guys get the idea that a gaming PC cost more than 1500 dollars), but even then I'd rather take that 500 dollars, put it away, and save for a few months and get a new PC than an X1X.

I'd save more in the long run, and have a better quality-of-life experience: cheaper games, more games, more free games, more diversity, higher quality games, more indie content, greater community diversity (though admittedly smaller communities), and more options.

Yup.

And with most of the games on Xbox coming to Windows now, what's the point (if you have a solid PC, that is)?

Honestly, if you have a desktop from the last four years, just drop a 300+ dollar video card in there and chances are it's already as good (if not better) than an X1X. That's honestly the best way to get started with PC gaming; take that PoS namebrand media computer you got for school work and stuff that has a good processor and memory and just put a video card in it.

Though I imagine most people these days have laptops.

I think others already said this, but what kind of PC? I'd much rather have an X than the PC I own. A PC with comparable specs? That'd be close to $1000... So I'd choose a PC in that case.

I say new PC, but that's only because I really have never had much of any interest in owning Xbox consoles. But honestly, I'd rather save money to spend on a Switch later or spend it on more important things.

I already own a high-end PC so I already made my choice and chose PC instead.

The lack of games on XboneX is a serious deterrent for me. If it had games I wouldn't have any problem owning one.

I buy consoles for exclusives and XboneX is dead in that department.

New pc, or even just spending $500 on new mobo/cpu/ram. X1X has nothing that interests me. PS4 is the only console that has the whopping 5 or so games I care about but can't get on pc.

Well, maybe Nintendo switch as well, but I'll buy that later.

I was going to buy an XIX but it has no games so I decided to build a PC to play Forza 7 in 4K 60FPS but the recommended specs is a GTX 1080, so I decided the XIX has games and will get Project Scorpio instead to play Forza 7 in 4K 60FPS

No, neither of you can read.

It is a either buy a new One X or a new PC. Not upgrade an existing PC or compare to your current PC.

How much is a PC of equivalent specs as a One X?

I can read, by that same logic there is no price set on that new PC either.

considering a new PC is basically a new GPU/CPU at this point (as RAM is just cheap...) and potentially a motherboard... most people don't bother with anything else beyond that.

technicallitys aside.

This question should be "New PS4 Pro or New PC" ... then it would actually make sense... because the PS4 Pro can offer games that the PC cannot have (and vice versa) ... meanwhile XbX1 can't offer s*it unique to a PC Gamer, nor can it get the full range of console games unique to consoles.

sad state of affairs, in no way worth slightly better graphics than the PS4 Pro

An XB1X is in no way a good substitute to a PC, it offers nothing from the PC experience... it offers less than the PS4 Pro experience..... (in terms of actual games.).

This is purely to say "Haha my console has more power than your PS4 pro" ... yea ... nobody f*cking cares.

This is the generation of common sense, PS4 won the console War, PC is still king of System Wars, Nintendo Switch is the up and coming actually useful second console to own. M$ have messed up badly.

Besides, you couldn't even play online with it. You'd have to pay for online, which is still hilarious.

Xbox One X for me. Firstly I'm just not at all interested in gaming on a PC so any games that are shared between the Xbox One and PC is basically Xbox One exclusive to me. Secondly for the cost of the Xbox One X it's just a better deal for what you get with especially considering that it can also play 4K UHD discs too.

Sony / Nintendo fanboys are like the fakest PC gamers of all time. They favors exclusives and they're desperate to the point they glorify games like Bomberman or Knack.

Real PC gamers never care about exclusives war. The end.

I think this needs to be definitively said at this point: "PC" doesn't automatically mean you are running new games at native 4K, 60fps locked, with Ultra settings.. Too many people on this forum tend to throw out the "PC" card as if it automatically represents a set standard of quality in the same sense of saying "PS4 Pro" or "Xbox One X"..

These types of assertions need to be qualified with the exact specs of said PC.. The GPU, CPU, everything, so people can actually and objectively weigh the performance and cost versus a $500 Xbox One X..

That said, and on topic, as primarily a console gamer my vote goes to Xbox One X..

I'd rather have a $500 PC even if the graphics may not be as good as a Xbox One X, but at least it has some pros to it like free online, mods, use any controller I want, tons of games only for PC, come out for PC first, or are not on Xbox like Nier Automata and Hellblade, real backwards compatibility, lots of game sales, oh yeah and I can choose what graphic settings I want for games while you're stuck with whatever devs give you on Xbox One X.

With all future Xbox exclusives coming to PC I have little incentive to get one, Xbox has simply turned into a multiplat console.

For me the choice is always console. Whenever I'm on a thread in an Internet forum about a game I love it is always filled with posts about how to fix this game from crashing on my PC or what settings should I use because I can't get the game to run properly and all that crap. And then its comments about disabling this and doing that and I just can't be bothered with it all. I know you guys are getting triggered right about now and that's fine. I'm glad the PC is the bestest video game experience for you ever but I will stick with consoles if you don't mind.

...just answering the question and all...

Too much common sense mate... I've just shocked how this isn't 99% of the responses to this thread.

I mean, its one thing to say "convenience, I prefer a couch" (as tacky as that) but any other argument is just border line delusional. System Wars, a place where consolites have always said "Hah PC gamers pay £500+ for upgraded graphics, lame!" and here come the handful of remaining xbox fanboys... buying a £400 UPGRADE to their console.. with the same damn s*itty CPU ... and then claiming this is the best value device on the market?

the delusion....

New pc. I already plan to sometime next year, anyway. I'm gonna make sure it's suped up the ass to the best specs possible.
