Hello. Would you like to see third person action/horror games like Revelations continue? Chances are the Resident Evil 2 remake could be behind the camera.

nope i like what re7 did went back to it's roots anyone wants it to go back the action route can **** off if they want to change the camera that's fine so long as the keep it survival horror
Yes :) ..preference will always be third person ...first person may cause me to have motion sickness. :P
All old School Resi fans will say third person :) Provided we are talking horror third person and not those action games, lol
RE1->RE4 was fine...RE5 onwards were the screwed up ones..co-op play bla bla bla ... (RE7 not included)
RE: Revelations & Revelations 2 not bad. :P

I don't really know the terminology but I separate 1/2/3 from 4 onward.
Although 3 basically was an action game, much less puzzle heavy, more emphasis on bang bang.
Quite like the Relevations series, although playing that little girl who points at things was abit shit.

Revelations fixed one of the main problems had with it, which was to exploit the shit out of the knife, ladders and doors.
Unfortunately instead of staying on the boat it tacked on shitty snow levels and a bunch for annoying characters like that lady who dressed like a slut.
Good end boss fight, way better than 4's.

3 was not an action game okey well it had more action then most of the originals but there was a balance between the action and survival horror RE4/5/6 and the rev games through all the survival horror out the window
no thanks. previous resi games suck. and theres evil within 2 coming which will probably better than resident evil.

I don't remember seeing proper zombies in RE7......
Nah, they should keep Resident Evil going in the more survival horror route, and 1st person is great for that.
Even better is that if they do that, they have the 3rd person action route open to go ahead and fill with a reboot of Dino Crisis. (seriously Dinosaurs would fit that type of game so much better than Zombies)
As long as series stay true to their original formula, that of survival/horror and not that epic BS of action/horror im all good with either 1st or 3rd person.
The moment RE turn happened to action/horror series screwed up. And dont tell me about RE4 !! RE4 had tremendous gameplay mechanic mistakes as an action shooter plus .. where was the horror !?
Thank god we had a reboot with RE7 and i became fan again. So yeah, as long as series move into that direction of survival/horror im all good with either 1st or 3rd.
Probably the only thing that would interest me in the series is a total remake of RE:CV on Mighty X1X. MS should make an Exclusive deal for that.. stat... :P
Sure ...but for some reason the Revelations titles never clicked with me, they are fun but not as compelling as RE4. I'll have to put in more time though, I barely played them. The Gameplay was fine but I think it was the setting that didn't grab me.
RE 4 was amazing not just because of its gameplay, but the overall style, atmosphere and setting of the game and the enemy designs were really cool in that game.
I enjoyed RE7, I enjoyed all the RE games I've played including RE6, but I prefer the 3Rd person ones overall and since RE4 is my favorite, I'd prefer too see a similar game to it come back, a higher-profile, more polished version in a different, darker setting. It probably won't happen, especially if RE7 was successful they might stick with that formula.
@superbuuman: what are you talking about Resident Evil 4 ruined everything. Had they named that game anything other than Resident Evil, sure decent game. Naming it Resident Evil 4 and doing what it did to the series awful.
Resident Evil 4 is excellent. It's the best game in the Resident Evil series and one of the greatest games of all time. It's everything that came after Resident Evil 4 that has sucked and has ruined the series.
Yes please!
My dream is for the RE2 remake to have two different perspective options- the old top down perspective, and the over the shoulder perspective, and for you to be allowed to switch between the two. xD

haha...I think my friend and I were the only 2 people who liked RE5.

I liked Revelations more than resident Evil 5-6, but not a lot, lol. More a step in the right direction but not there yet (for me).

Yea I like Evil Within.. just got all 3 DLCs on the recent Steam sales :)
I much preferred 3rd person than whatever Outlast ripoff RE7 is trying to be. They could have achieved all of what they did in RE7 in 3rd person, capcom just lost confidence in their devs and decided to copy someone else, its a pretty pathetic day when a large and established AAA starts to copy indie dev ideas.

Niiiiice! I'm super pumped for Evil Within 2 :))))
Yes , however you need yo remember that in 3rd person it will be less horrific
Silent Hill
Eternal Darkness
REmake
Fatal Frame 2
This whole it'll be less "horrific" idea is right up there with the notion that a first person game is "more immersive". It's a load of shit.
I haven't played RE7 yet, though I'm going to soon.
But I do enjoy the over the shoulder camera for more action based RE like RE4.
And I'm currently replaying REmake which is fucking masterful in its own right. I'd have no issues going back to a third person view with directed camera angles like that if done right.
Being first person certainly isn't a requirement for generating real tension, it's all in the execution. REmake keeps me on edge lol.

Kinda feel the Revelations series would have benefited from more focus. Donno why they have a fixation of globe trotting all over the place. In the end it just detracts from the game. Stick to the boat, stick to Claire e.t.c...

Resident Evil 7 wasnt back to its roots, it was a direction the series had never taken before. The direction Resident Evil 7 went seems to have been inspired by first person horror games over the past few years eg Outlast, Amnesia, Alien Isolation, even the PT demo etc.
Resident Evil back to its roots would include lots of Zombies, a B-movie like plot and terrible voice acting, its what we loved about the original games.
Now I'm off for a Jill Sandwich.

Immersive , not entirely but in first person it does take a bit longer to turn back and see what is creeping behind me , all in all better jump-scares
P.T
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Alien: Isolation
Outlast

PT is a demo, and those games really doesn't counter-act my point. Because maybe one of them is actually up to snuff with the others as a game. Isolation is hot fire for the first half, but a slog to sit through for the 2nd (not to mention the Alien itself becomes a push over thanks to the flame thrower) half. Outlast is a colossal bore to play, and hardly scary if the only criteria is "i got scared". REmake on the flip side has an exceptionally designed mansion that is satisfying to navigate n rewarding to figure out paths from objective to objective, all the while keeping you on the edge of your seat with the restrictions it puts on you+the obstacles that are built around the restrictions put on said player.
Even in first person the scares are rarely, if ever this organic thing where you are just walking along, and boom you naturally turn around and something spooky is behind you. Even then the scares work no different then they do in third person. You go to a point, directly ahead of you, a scare is set up outside of your vision, and you do thing that triggers the scare.
Third person isn't some limitation on it, certainly not when some of the best games ever in the genre happen to be third person to begin with. Horror is as much about pacing, quality audio, basic presentation stuff, and mechanics that find the right balance between letting the player have meaningful interactions vs not empowering them too much that they start seeing the enemy as an after thought.
Which is my general point. You can make an excellent horror game either in first person or third person, neither is inherently better than the other. Like anything else it comes down to execution.
