Poll: Worst reboot franchise this gen? Tomb raider or Wolfenstien? (43 votes)

Tomb Raider 37%
Wolfenstein 63%

Hello friends,

In this thread we discuss about what is worst Reboot series happened this generation?

so my friends, i found both of series easily worst reboot this gen. Tomb Raider is uncharted wanna be with QTE, cinematics, terrible combat, see through walls and bad stealth mechanics. while i never like any TR game before but most TR fans prefer original games. infact latest tomb raider reboot game become so bad that square enix has to put it on rest.

wolfenstein on other hand become some of the worst FPS games ever this generation. i mean machinegames turn wolfenstein into one of my most hated franchise. as RTCW was amazing game of its time. the new one is coming this month and it looks like it will be worst FPS this year along with borderlands 3 imo.

so which reboot series you think is worse of 2? lets vote and discuss.

Neither. I enjoyed both. You are overly dramatic and loud. In addition, I think you have regurgitated your point to nausea outside of this thread.

I have to agree Doom was worse. I enjoyed Tomb Raider for what it was, and never had any hopes of it excelling because I knew mechanics are never the strength of that series.

Wolfenstein I shrugged on. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't stellar mechanically. I don't understand a lot of the fuss about that series.

Borderlands I like for what it is: An unapologetic, cartoony, self-parodying loot shooter. Borderlands as a series has always been self-aware enough to not take itself fully seriously.

Tomb raider was an OK uncharted clone, didn't play wolfenstien, especially after all that SJW shit that went on in their marketing department never want to.

I have not played shadow of TR. but TR 2013 and rise are 2 of worst games i have ever played.

if shadow is worse than both than i cant imagine how bad it is.

Wolf 2 was pretty bad but new order was also bad. wolf 2 just manage to make it worse.

The old school ReCloud already sucked. The new reboot is just pathetic. The developers just can't seem to get it right.

Once again our dear freind Ghost asks the hard questions no one is willing to.

It's a hard one, both suck. But Tomb Raider started sucking long before the reboot. 1/2/3/4 great. Then with Legend, a down-hill spiral of dumbing-down to the point the game plays it self. Long gone are the bad ass days of getting chased by a T-Rex as lurches out of the darkness.

Wolfenstien is now a terrible movie game completely up it's own anus. RTCW/ET were god tier barring shitty ass stealth. Absolute boss multiplayer on top of blood pumping single-player.

Now we get learn why JB blowjob doesn't like his daddy and get a shitty Stranger Things ripoff as three girlys try to take down Donad Trumps America through the incredible power of feminism. REPRESENT! 3/4 of that probably cutscenes. Polygons head will explode with joy as it will be a progressive game, and they can actually play it. Get a big hot take article telling us how it BROKE NEW GROUND.

No castles. No Indiana Jones. No Occult. No intricate map design. Just some dumb ass Dishonored game.

No sexy Nazis either. Disgrace.

Tomb Raider was an excellent reboot, though, Shadow of the Tomb Raider was pretty disappointing, they did a great job updating combat mechanics but utterly pointless since they minimized combat, and supposed focus on exploration didn't feel any better than previous two titles.

Wolfenstein is fun but flawed, much prefer fluidity of Doom's gameplay versus having to manually pick up everything in Wolfenstein and combat doesn't feel as good as Doom's, weapon designs suck, liked fist and second game but Old Blood cheap title was pretty bad. I dare say I enjoyed Rage 2 more than any of the current gen Wolfenstein games.

Assassin's Creed easily takes top honor here, they really flipped series on it's head with Unity and Syndicate and still haven't brought series back in my eyes. It's like Black Flag was culmination of everything good series had going for it, minus shit Desmond story arc, but it's as if they pandered series then onward to critics, gimped the combat instead of enhancing enemy tactics and nerfed abilities, made the SP like a half realized online game that never got finished, turned them into grindy chores full of frustration and boredom. And I know there's never been true gap to warrant phrase reboot since still annual installations but Unity was a reboot in my eyes as it's their first aparant drastic departure for series and it was a shit one.

Honorable mentions go to EA for Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Mass Effect Andromeda, and the Star Wars Battlefront games, which really would have been better as a Battlefield game with a Star Wars skin, but everyone whined that wasn't what they wanted and EA listened to the whiney mob who was always going to whine no matter what instead of doing the obviously awesome thing, and aside from Respawn the rest of EA can't do PvE for shit.

I tried The New Order and The New Colossus. According to Steam I have a paltry 2-3 hours in each game and honestly I couldn't tell you what happened. I'm a big fan of the early Wallenstein games and RtCW.

I actually made it all the way through Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is saying something. I remember a Russian children's tale being told in the form of Lara being drugged and a witch lady controlling a ski lift. Lara gets impaled, Lara gets concussed, Lara breaks this, falls off of that. The high point of playing all these games I think.

Picked up Shadow of the Tomb Raider recently and it seems bad. I don't think I want to hear about another of Lara's adventures. Same puzzles, same story, same same same. And some how it looks worse than I remember RotTR, which wasn't a stellar game to begin with.

I wasn't into either series of reboots. All these games just felt like going through the motions. Every now and then you get a big scene with explosions and all that good stuff, but that's not enough for a good game.

I only played the first Wolfenstein game, didn't try the sequel cause i didn't really care enough about it. I may try the newer one coming out at some point if I get time but its not a game i'd care if i missed out on.

I liked Tombraider 2013 reboot a lot, didn't like the other two games after it, I hated most of the third one. They felt like busy work to play, the 2013 game was just enough openworld and anything more and you are just wasting your time walking around. I don't like gathering items to craft things, it makes my blood boil.

Tomb Raider reboot was fantastic! Liked the first Wolfie reboot, hated its sequel.

But I'm gonna go with Mass Effect: Andromeda. One of the best IPs last gen. Felt like a pretty straightforward reboot. But no lol.

If you did not like either of those, makes me wonder if you even like video games.

Go back to Minecraft or Robo Blox or whatever it is called.

To each their own but really loved the new Tomb Raider trilogy and Camilla Ludington as Lara, And Wolfenstein is just stupid Nazi killing fun don't over think it. Loved them both but plan on skipping Youngbloods until it hits Gamepass.

The first Tomb Raider on ps3. I played that one. Played like Uncharted 1 on ice.

Everything was too automatic and the treasure aspect seemed tacked on, just because it was tomb raider.

I've never played Wolfenstein, but the new Tomb Raider games are trash with bloated cutscenes and linear, on-the-rails gameplay. Playing it felt like going through the motions rather than the player mapping out their own adventure.

The mapping out their own adventure tends to occur at the end of the game (main story).

All Tomb Raider games are linear, what did you expect?
