What AAA games of this gen has the shittyest animations in your opinion?
ME:A and Elex lol
Elex isn't AAA, or is it? Maybe I'm wrong since it's published by THQ, but I can't find any information on the budget for the game. However, Mass Effect does have some crappy animations, especially considering it's Frostbite engine and DICE works absolute wonders with it.
Halo 5 and it's quarter frame rate animation system for enemies in the background..... Looks bloody awful.
Diving in Metal Gear Solid V ground zeroes was weird when you do it from a high ground to low ground.(Which would break the dive animation)
Animations don't bother me as much as seeing games transition between real time rendering and super compressed pre-renders video, gotten a lot worse since the 4K upgrades, most devs have done nothing to help out mid-gen upgrade consoles with higher quality videos, maybe Shadow of War is only game I can think of. I remember thinking last gen this really should have been something I'd like to have seen disappear then, so games maintain a consistent video quality standard.
who plays a game for its animations? jesus h
I do. I'd hate it if game had no animations. Everything would be really still and not move.

animations of a game NEVER is a deciding factor for me in game selection, I have more important things that are part of my evaualtion

ok, well that is unrelated to the topic but thanks for that insight.
back on topic, I am just suggesting that if animations is a strong focus of your game that maybe the games you are looking at really dont have much content.
@uninspiredcup: MKX has stiff animations, but they aren't bad and definitely not the worst out of all the AAA games this gen.
Presentation is pretty important for a fighting games and it fails on multiple fronts, compared to it's peers (even MVC:I) I would say it in the "awful" category. Worst in genre.
@tryit: saying he went off topic is basically saying you have no argument and is a personal attack.
Or at least thats what you told me.
Not sure. Judging only from what I’ve played it might be Mass Effect Andromeda, there were some janky animations in that game even though I kind of enjoyed the game in general.

Or maybe people want animation quality that matches the visuals in their games..........
@tryit: So according to you, you have no valid argument against him.
No clue what you are talking about related to that, keep in mind I am stupid so you might have to explain it.
I can tell you what I AM saying however...which is this and only this and nothign else infered and the way you can figure out 'what I am saying' is by reading it because I am telling you to the question of what I am saying this is what I am saying...ready?
I am just suggesting that if animations is a strong focus of your game that maybe the games you are looking at really dont have much content.
THAT is 'what I am saying' nothing more, nothing less, nothing outside inferred, no translation needed
@tryit: maybe instead of commenting on video games you watch on YouTube, you should actually try playing them.
You know, “Tryit” instead of watching YouTube
very lame.
and now on top of it you are actually ADVERTISING to people that you think its not possible to understand a game like Uncharted by watching game play. Why do you wish you literally ADVERTISE that to people?
And now you're just proving that you're too dumb to see what @boycie did when everyone else got the joke.

That's the 4th time you've put that now. Yeah we get it. But nobody has said that animation is a strong focus. That's just something you've projected.
The fact is this is a gaming forum and we sometime talk about different aspects of games.
Out of interest what do you class as 'content'?
Did I miss something here? Who said that animations was the main reason why they play any particular game? I thought that this was simply a thread asking which game people thought had poor animations.
ok yes we get it, it was over my head, i am stupid, i missed the joke.

I dont know how to respond to your statement other than...'ok?'
to your question I consider interactive things the player can do in the enviroment. large variety of different courses of actions which can lead to different outcomes and not all just combat focused.
For me when it comes to graphics, a pretty universe comes before animations but game play comes before all graphics. So if a game has deep game play then the graphics become less important, not to mean its not nice but its not as important, while animations specifically as a subset of graphics is even less important.
does that help to understand?
ADDED: The brain has to prioritize things its interested in, not all things can have the same weight of attention. so the less content you have the more likely animations will increase on that list..in my opinion
ok yes we get it, it was over my head, i am stupid, i missed the joke.

So you would be happy if a game like Crysis 3 had animation quality equal to a PS2 game because it had top notch graphics?

not sure Crysis 3 wasnt a very deep game so for that game animations might be more important.

But there is no list. What list are you talking about?
what I am talking about is exactly what I am saying
Here is how the brain works, your UNCONSCIOUS brain, it priorities things its exposed to based on interest, the less items it has to process the more likely less intresting things make its 'list'
so for example, if you walk out into an empty field you would be more likely to notice a rock then if you were in a mall to notice a crack in the floor. More inputs, brain puts things in a list of importance.
you dont walk into Disney Land and go 'holy smokes! look at the detail on the grout of this tile!' but if you are in a house with nothing in it that is exactly what you might notice.
brain pirorities what it focuses on.
are you serious when you say you dont understand? or just fing with me?
ok yes we get it, it was over my head, i am stupid, i missed the joke.

So PS4 and Xbone can have less quality animation in GTA5 then PS3 and 360 does because PS4 and Xbone can have more stuff on screen and the brain can only prioritise so much?
