With the release of Voodoo Vince:Remastered, why doesn't Microsoft remaster and release original Xbox games?

The game is great and it really shows how far gaming has come. It's a simple game that I guess many people enjoyed on the original Xbox. It seems to have been selling well based on the number of reviews for the game (which was over 52) based on what I saw on release date alone.(Which was a couple of days ago). If this becomes successful and sells well, what's the hurt in Microsoft not releasing or remaster the original Xbox exclusives like Brute Force and Conker: Live and Reloaded. I think it will add a nice new touche for retro games on the Xbox One and will further bolster the library of Xbox exclusives.

Maybe they can work on OG Xbox compatibility with Xbox One?

That'd be pretty cool.

I would prefer if they took a little bit extra time and remastered them and sold them for $14.99-$19.99 just like they did for Voodoo Vince.

I would rather not pay again for games I already own- but I am also not familiar with the extent of remastering VV got, so I cede ignorance in this case.

Wrong, everyone cared. BC is the reason the Wii sold so well. Why lol at my comment? Games designed for Windows Vista, MSDOS, etc. are unplayable on windows 10.

BC with a console no one gave a f*ck about is the reason Wii sold well? Lol okay.

Is BC with one of the highest selling consoles of all time the reason Wii U didn't sell at all?

Wii U did not sell because that mastodon monstrosity of a controller. The nickname of the beast be "consumer repellent".

Gears and Minecraft(although original a PC game) both were released on the Xbox 360. They could at least remaster the original Xbox exclusives like Blinx, Brute Force, Conker: Live and Reloaded and show them off as Xbox One exclusives. I imagine they will sell well based on VVs performance.

It wouldn't help me regardless because I own no OG Xbox games, but making them BC would be better for more people I think. I know Phil has hinted at making OG Xbox games BC with X1/Scorpio, we'll just have to wait and see.

Making the Xbox One backwards compatible with original Xbox games would be pretty awesome. Wouldn't mind seeing some of those games remastered as well.

With the lack of BC support for original Xbox games, I wouldn't be against remaster treatment for them.

BC with original Xbox would be good, but all remasters do is take talented development resources away from better/newer games.

That would definitely be cool.

And if not, then I agree with OP. I'm really enjoying Voodoo Vince, and would definitely be up for a few more remasters (as long as it doesn't take away from new game development).

Did MS even have many first party games on the xbox to remaster in the first place? We got the Master Chief Collection. How many of those original xbox one games aren't already available as pc ports anyway?

They had A LOT of exclusives back during the OG Xbox days. Which is why is crazy why they didnt have many during the late 360 days and today.

Blame Don Mattrick.

He was a corporate guy in charge of a product in an industry that depends on creativity.

Phil Spencer always had a "games console first" approach and even criticized some of the moves Microsoft (Don Mattrick) made regarding the lasft few years of 360, and conception and launch of Xbox One.

Since he took over, we have seen a big turn around and E3 and Scorpio will be his true test.

Its a good sign seeing him return to Japan to get those devs on board, even knowing Xbox will always sell like crap there.

I hope he is working on reviving OG games, he has mentioned it many times.

Almost all of Sony's remasters were done by 3rd party studios

@blessedbyhorus: I suppose. To be frank, I found the 4-player local Halo and "play the latest game like a couch-potato" aspect a more significant benefit than the uniqueness of the game library - for example, Crimson Skies was a PC series, and we also had/have a long history of excellent MechWarrior titles. This isn't to downplay what was great about the XBox takes on those games and the steps they took... IDK. Most of the stuff I spent the most time with on my XBox was multiplat or arguably a spin-off sequel as with the Crimson Skies example (I didn't actually have that particular XBox title though)

To be honest, most of the original Xbox games other then Halo CE, just hardly anyone even cares to see them get remasters. Halo CE, Halo 2, and Fable have got there remaster treatments only because they were very popular on the original Xbox and doing them all isn't worth the waste of resource so MS doesn't see them as worthy of remastering.

Look at games like Blinks, Dino Crisis 3, Brute Force, Avent Rising, Jade Empire, ect. those games aren't even popular and MS doesn't see it was worthy remastering if it doesn't make money. But I do know that Phil Spencer mention he likes to see the original Xbox games find there way to Xbox One st the very least in the future so there maybe hope after playing those games.

Halo isn't the only thing on the original Xbox that people care about. There is a little Xbox game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic that I think quite a lot of people would love to see get remastered and would be opening their wallets wide open to buy it (myself included).
