With STALKER 2 not coming before 2022. Is it safe to say Deathloop is true GOTY this year?

So STALKER 2 is 2022 game. that leaves Deathloop as best game to be released this year. It looks immersive, unique, and Hitman style FPS with with timeloop. they havenot shown it at E3 but so far what we have seen is very very impressive. Arkane another game Redfall looks lame. its coop game now. on other hand there has never been any FPS before that is like Deathloop. it may raise the bar for FPS genre to come. sadly fall 2021, generic battlefield, COD and Halo will what get more attention and innovative underdog get ignore.

So my friends, will this leave Deathloop the best game of 2021? the best FPS of 2021? the ultimate masterpiece this year?

Deathloop looks like a 7/10 game that you will stop talking about the hour reviews are out.

It's no Dishonored or Prey but a 7/10 by Arkane standards is still a 9.5/10 in the rest of the AAA industry.

and Genericfield 2042 will be OMG 10/10!!!

STALKER 2 is currently on life support, where we just hope it manages to survive its injuries. The hope is almost completely futile, but we still need to have hope. At least until they pull the plug completely and turn it into shitty ass Metro. Our thoughts are with STALKER 2. May your true intended form be missed and remembered.

Anyway, to answer the thread, I think there are like maybe a 100 active users on this forum, and the amount of people who think Deathloop will be GOTY is around 1.

majority will prefer HAALO INFFINIT over something Fresh and innovative. sadly. or even GenericField 2042.

The majority will just enjoy all of them.

In an ideal world, sure, but at $60-$70 a pop, most people will probably buy somewhere between 2 and 5 full-price games and persuade themselves the rest was all crap.

The important thing is that you decided well before the game is even released that its already the GOTY. Not sure what I'd do without your preemptive award ceremonies.

Deathloop will sell 2 copies and go on discount sale very fast, sadly.

Hmmm I cannot make up my mind with Death loop, but so far it looks pretty generic.

We don't know yet. It could be a great game or it could be a bad game. We will have to wait until it comes out.

Overhype kills, and some people want desperately to kill titles as early as possible for whatever reasons of their own.

Just like he did with Just Cause 4 and Rage 2. He swore those were 'masterpieces' before release.

@sancho_panzer: Good thing is that both Halo and Deathloop will both be on Gamepass. Although Deathloop won't be there until 2022.

@ghost_of_phobos: Ah, that's fair enough. SONY forked out for exclusivity rights and all that. It's releasing on PC around my birthday anyway, so if it's great I might dive in early. To be honest, I'm more thinking about STALKER 2 overhype. In spite of where it seems like that one's going, I've still quietly got my fingers crossed. It would be sad to see a pretty decent game destroyed by wild expectations.

GOTY is very subjective. Who on this forum is really hyped for Deathloop anyway? Far Cry 6 will likely be my GOTY.

people always say im stuck in the past, naw you people are compared to me im always ahead of people the games im into are always into the future/years off.

just like most people never went to ebgames back in the day and looked at game release list or actually browse through gamespots game list for each platform to find games years off from release names just announced but no release date given To be announced or w/e

just like i bought xbox on release day in 2001 november 15th 2001 i followed the console in pc mags and microsoft's direct x team were talking about idea of a console when all you had was prototype metal x bullcrap and even followed halo when it was just ptototypes and microsoft even bought bungie, hell i had halo combat evolved like 2 weeks before original xbox even released to the us market.

this was an era when people doubted microsoft's success in the console business also, i can give many other examples tho.

people have always followed and got into crap way after i was already into it.

i knew about stalker's prototypes back in like 2002 or so before mainstream knew about it js.
