With FFXIII going multi-platform, what's stopping SO4 and Infinite Undiscovery?

Clearly SE could make quite a bit of money porting both games to the PS3(maybe even the wii?), and SE has shown that prior announcements of exclusivity don't always hold up, so why not? I wouldn't be surprised if they both show up on the PS3 mid to late '09.

SE has expressively stated that the main reason that SO4 was developed for the 360 was because of its availability sooner, which begs the question, is it already in development for PS3 and they are waiting for a large event(TGS maybe) to make the announcement?

IU was a deal between Tri-Ace and MS, not SE.

And MS probably signed a contract for SO4.

No, they said they will pay if they have to. They did say that they wouldn't but I remember reading an article not too long ago where they said they'll pay if they should.

They were too late, I guess. SE said they've been planning it for some time now.

I think SE is just breaking away from Sony. They are already in deep with FFXIII and VS, so they will still come out for PS3. It's like it was when SE jumped ship from Nintendo to Sony, they go where the sales are.Bigboi500

If that were the case, then they'd go to wii in a heartbeat. Microsoft is only 3-4 million ahead, and is COMPLETELY absent in japan, their native country. So there's obviously a significant amount of funding coming from microsoft to keep SE on board and making titles for them, but of course with such major support they're alienating they're entire japanese audience on the next-gen consoles(which is extradionarily small anyway only about 3 million ps3 owners to 600k 360 owners). Which is why the majority of their titles are on DS until install bases get big enough to make a significant profit(maybe why ff13 will take 4 years to come out.

Well it was Square saying they wanted to even things up between the two.

If Versus was coming to 360, they would have announced it along with XIII.

not true about th sales part the only reason why nintendo lost square was the cartridge were too expenseive

They did let SE publish it worldwide, but MS still has the rights for the game. They gave SE the publishing rights to sell more games.

I can see Star Ocean 4 going to the PS3, but right now it is only coming to the 360. I don't want to assume what it is going to happen.
