I would like to think that I would use it like a handheld more, but I tend to do most of my gaming at home. I don't plan on taking it off the dock and going to a party full of skateboarders and getting everyone to stop doing what they're doing so we can stare at a 7 inch screen. But those are just my thoughts. What about you, SW? How do you plan on using the Nintendo Switch?

It's likely I won't buy the switch at all, however I see it as a handheld from what we have seen of it.

If I got one I'd treat it as a handheld

Neither. It will probably flop like previous Nintendo consoles and I have no desire to get it.

Probably more of a handheld. Only time I'll probably even connect it to my tv is when I'm gaming with the kids.

Ill use it more of a home console. But will use it on the go daily too. When its time for me to go to sleep, ill bring it to sit by my bed so i can watch it.

Lol yeah who needs that kind attention in their life? I certainly don't want to be eyed by a group of Skateboarders as I game in public. No but kidding aside I don't really game on the go these days, haven't really needed a handled in years. Only time I would have a use for one is when I go visit my folks, don't have plans to buy the switch right now but If I ever do it would be more for home use. I would sometimes use the portability thing, but within my crib, doubt I would take it much outside.

Home console. I honestly don't see myself using it much at all as a handheld. There are so many DS/3DS games I have yet to play that Sony will come out with another worthless handheld by the time I'm in the market for something else.

I won't use it at all, I'm not a mobile gamer and the console is too weak for home use. Interesting concept though, I must admit.

Don't game on the go, so it will be on the dock 100% of the time connected to TV. :P

I'll likely use it for both a portal and home system.

I will probably use it more as a home system as the time I spend gaming at home outweighs the time I spend gaming on the go.

Definitely console for more than 95% of the time. I don't have the time to play video games on the go very much and would usually choose to read on my Kindle instead when I have a little bit of downtime away from home. And while at home, I would never choose to play on a handheld over my big screen TV with soundbar and more comfortable controller. The only times that I see using the Nintendo Switch as a handheld would be during plane rides and when the power goes out.

for me i think itll be about 3/4 console mode. i do travel from time to time and being able to move it easily is handy. there are some games that are ideal for a quick play before sleeping also (catch a few pokemon or gather up respources in MH for example, a few races in mario kart and so on.).

i dont play games out in public generally (and the switch is simply too big for carry around in a pocket) but i throw the likes of my vita and 3DS in my laptop bag when i travel. so thats what this will do also.

the fact that you can take the system on the go easily is not a system selling feature for me but its handy. i just hope there is no custom data/power plugs for it. ideally i would like to be able to charge it using my phone charger using standard micro USB.

Knowing my kids...... They'd use the tablet feature more. Given the relatively low resolution, so would I. I don't mind HD resolution on my 14" laptop screen. Switch games should look nice on the tablet screen.

Perhaps, being part of that demographics will steer Nintendo to mobile entirely. It'll then have that market all to itself.

Ironically, I'd use it as a handheld more, but I'd probably never take it out of the house. It's exactly how I used my WiiU (before i got rid of it). Unless a game needed both screens like ZombiU, I would just play everything right on the screen.

A grown man walking around with a Nintendo handheld is embarrassing, and I'd deserve to physically mugged by lower class youths.

The Switch can sit in the corner of shame.

I probably would use it as a handheld more. The main tv is usually taken up so off screen play is important. Also would take it to work to play during lunch since lunch is boring anyways.

Probably as a handheld, though a lot of that is also just around the house, I'll use it on the tv when I have people over but if I get it (depending on the lineup), it'd be fun to just play it in bed and stuff. Pokemon would be fun to play on the go, a dark souls game, etc etc. I mean sitting in front of a tv for too long is tiring.

I already have my phone for mobile gaming and the Switch is horribly underpowered for a console. So I guess neither. The Switch might be the first Nintendo device that I'll never own.

I'll probably use it more as a traditional console, but the handheld aspect will be handy even at home, where I can play it in different rooms of the house. Also, I'm betting I'll take it with me when I travel, especially as I'll be travelling for work quite a bit next year.

Most likely I'll use it as a handheld, I pretty much used the Wii U GamePad for off-TV play anyways and it worked great for that, this I can take on the go so even better.

I will probably only use it as a handheld unless there are some great local MP games to play on a Tv. It's sad that the Switch needs to be in this silly docking station to get the picture on the Tv - this won't allow games like Nintendoland to happen on the Switch

The more I think about the Switch the more I think about how I won't use it how they advertised it. I mean I don't see a situation where I have it on handheld mode and I use those tiny ass Joycons outside or even in the home. If I could watch movies and browse the web, maybe I'll use it while on the toilet or laying down when I'm holding it in my hands. So I'll mainly play games while docked and hopefully I could do other things than play games as a handheld.

Almost certainly handheld. May use it as a console every now and then when playing games like Zelda, or for the novelty of playing Pokemon on the big screen, however.

I wouldn't use it as a handheld. But I never use my handhelds as handhelds. I just buy them for the handheld games some of which are excellent. I'm hoping to see handheld games made for the Switch, not just console games.

Actually. I used my 3DS while in a waiting room last week. So maybe that's changing.

Personally i hate handhelds. I always did except a bit of original Gameboy.

Now my taste aside , i wont buy Switch. Its everything i wished to NOT be. I wanted 3 things , simple stuff.

1) Be as powerful as possible

2) Have on par 3rd party support like PS4/X1

3) Be a traditional console with no fancy stuff involved

We were here in this board talking about NX and what everyone would like to see from it. Well , the mysterious NX of that time ended up being exactly the opposite of what 90% of people asked for. Even die hard sheep of this board asked for what i was asking. Oh well...

Personally ill stick to what im doing with Nintendo consoles since N64 era , RENTING the consoles plus the game i want to play for few days . and no way in the world ill use that as handheld. No damn way !

Everything fits into a small tablet sized form factor. It's a handheld IMO. A handheld with a docking station.

If you have a laptop computer and put it on a desk, or plug it into a docking station that has additional inputs/outputs, it doesn't magically become a "desktop computer". It is still a laptop plugged into a dock. Same deal applies to Switch.

At console it fails on an epic proportion that we have never seen before. A gen 9 machine is weaker than current gen 8 machines.
