There are a couple of games on it at the moment that I'd like to play, so I'll definitely pick one up on June 9th. Then I'll have access to every platform this gen and my wallet will never forgive me.

Definitely made my choice a lot harder.
Buy a PS4 and play Shadow Fall with Tomatoes, or get an X1, double dip on Tittyfall and play with Lundy.
You're welcome.

Yea pay $399 for superior multiplats and great exclusives or pay $399 for 720p and Kinect games. The choice is easy.
The xflop might have the same price june 9th as the ps4 but the bulk of the games (multplats) will still be better on the ps4. Add in the ps4 has more 1st party games and idie's with psn+ costing 10 bucks less and nothing has really changed. The ps4 is the only logical choice.
@StrongBlackVine:
Eh, it boils down to several things to me. I am ambivalent towards MS whereas i actively dislike Sony. I like Halo more than any of the Sony exclusives. XBL generally has better networking than PS+. All my achievements are on XBL, which is minor, but I still like to have them (I just broke 10k points recently). And I prefer the Xbox controller to Dual Shock. All that combined swings me in the direction of XBox One.
If MS moves forward with what they are planning to allow games devs to knock out certain background functionality to free up hardware for rendering, then the gap will be closer to the PS4 as well. Besides I'm a PC gamer at heart, I run the multiplats with much better visuals on my PC, consoles are for exclusives and games that have better console MP communities (like the AC series).
That has nothing to do with claim that PlayStation was similar to EA in "arrogance and asshatery." Those words apply more to Microsoft and how they handled Xbox One since the reveal.
Already own one, now I feel a little jaded since I wish I could of bought mne without the beyond useless garbage that is known as kinect(lol)-The joke of the industry and gaming and now MS has officially shit canned it into oblivion.
Kinect is brilliant for voice commands tho.
Kind of bummed about it not being bundled. Devs no longer have the incentive to get creative with it.
The right move would be to lower the price to 399 and keep Kinect. Couldve gone a lot further.
Sure, theyd lose money NOW, but they would broaden the base and appeal of the console while attracting creative minds.
Kinect is useless for hardcore games but has huge potential in the creative use arena.
I'm sorry I disagree. The only voice command I use is to turn it on and off and sometimes it doens't work on first try.
Everything else pisses me off when it doesn't pick up the first time and if you have a room full friends or kids, forget about using them there.
I wouldn't miss it one bit and I certainly have not and dont plan on playing any Kinect(lol) only games. And you are absolutely 100% correct that devs will be thinking twice about making games that only use it, since I'm guessing from here on out that sale of the thing will be drastically reduced as people will buy the cheaper unit.
I agree. The voice command technology just doesn't work when I need it too and sometimes I have to repeat myself three times. Other times it works great.
Add in my sound system that is boomy and can cover my voice...it's just easier to pick up a remote/controller and put a button to pause or turn off. It's a shame.
I already paid $500 and $700 (craigslist launch day) and will be getting a third for my office when it is done at work. I love Xbox! I want to hug all my fellow SW combatants too!
I'll wait until it becomes cheaper than PS4 since it seems to be performing worse, couple that with inferior specs(albeit not everyone will know/care about this, mass consumer side but fortunately I do). It finally has one interesting game for it, that being SO, and I'm interesting in seeing what QB will be like. Both games I'll hopefully get second hand at some point in 2016 when I plan on picking up the box. The game library just isn't there at the minute and definitely not worth dropping another wad of cash. I'm also not interested in any of the big multiplayer titles.
Also not interested in the TV features. I'm glad they dropped the Gold BS with the apps though, that was another thing putting me off because I doubt I'll be shelling out for gold as well as PS+ as it's worse value in comparison.
I bought one at 499. I really wish they stuck with kinect or dropped it at launch. At least it showed they believed in something before using the market as it's test dummy
I think even more positive news than the kinectless/pricedrop/netflix-paywall, is the POSSIBILITY that perhaps a new person is in charge of the division(i don't mean the woman that took over recently) or that a lot of new people are involved in said division. If this is the case, there could be a drastic change in what happens this gen, regardless of hardware spec. The events over the last month begin to show a sense of desperation. Not in the sense that there's a clueless person running things, but perhaps one that understands that the product name is in jeopardy. Playstation 4 has shown the companies what the consumer really wants. Microsoft must see this--they're biting the bullet and it seems literally dropping everything in the way of what is stopping people from buying the console.
I would not be surprised if ms is hard at work at buying a lot of indie devs and perhaps some much larger companies. e3 should be very interesting this year.
No. I don't mind Kinect per se. MS doesn't have the exclusives I want at this time.....and I'm not buying the less capable console for the same price. Hell without Kinect it's even less interesting.
With MS lowering the price and removing Kinect to $399
Will you now buy an Xbox One?
Nope. If the PS4 and Xbox are the same price, there's no incentive to get an Xbox instead of a PS4. Waiting for the first console to hit 300.
It's a significantly weaker PS4 at the same price, no.
Well it's $50 dollars cheaper then the PS4 in Canada now. Had two co-workers pre-order their $399 version yesterday once futureshop started taking them.
According to them they were both on the fence until now.
For me personally: I have one already and a PS4 but at $399 I'd consider buying a 2nd one for the bedroom as I use my first one every day.
I heard dropping kinect will allow for a power increase to games because the freed up resources. Which I believe the kinect supposedly used 10% of.
MS lost me after I bought a 360 & the multiple hardware failures that I had with it. I had the first Xbox and then 360 for about 5 months. HDD failure, discdrive failure, and RRoD. I sold the replacement and vowed to never buy an Xbox again. MS has shown to be overly controlling, overly charging, and to do things with their consoles that I don't like.
I already have a decent PC for multiplats, but the price drop definitely made things interesting. For me its about console exclusives now, since the price is the same. Sony exclusives have never done anything for me. While Microsoft has Halo, Gears, Forza, Killer Instinct, Fable, Quantum, and Sunset to look forward to. As of right now, I'm buying the One.

I already own 3, but I may as well purchase an extra for the bathroom since I can't Kinect while on the toilet.
I'm calling it now, the console war is over. Microsoft has won, and the X1 will skate to an easy victory. At just $499, the X1 was a supreme value when compared to the PSbore, but now that the X1 has shred some weight, it will blaze itself further into 1st place and completely finish off the PS4, and eventually get Sony to file bankruptcy.
They're evenly priced and PS4 is more popular everywhere in the world except the U.S. The PS4 will not lose. The PS3 didn't lose with a year late and priced $200 more for years.
Nah, unless I see 4 or 5 must have "True exclusives" and I haven't seen one yet. I won't be owning an Xbox One until the start of nextgen.
I think they missed a fantastic opportunity to price the X1 at $350. If the reports that the Kinect added $150 to the total price of the console were true, then Microsoft will actually be making MORE money with this new SKU at $400. It seems like they could have really jumped ahead if they had been a little bit less concerned about the bottom line. Hell, $375 would have been far better than $400.
Definitely made my choice a lot harder.

Already get superior multiplats on PC
lol nathandrakeswagpost lol
I wouldn't want it if it was $100. I simply have no use for it. I have enough systems as it is and there aren't enough games that interest me to justify owning it.

nope. the only way ill get a x1 is if they make it backward compatible so i can sell my x360. i fukin hate having more than 2 consoles attached to tv and its such a waste of space
Nah. At least not anytime soon. Have a PS4 for the time being. With all the 180s MSFT has made from the reveal to just recently, it would be a safer bet to wait a couple of years to see how their platform plays out before a purchase.
I wouldnt buy one even for $100.. the console is still unappealing due to how it does not allow you to switch to a bigger HDD, XBLA is $10 more expansive than PS+, the controller uses batteries lol and unappealing games.

To what system? It lost to Wii in sales, but won against both Wii and 360 in gaming library and against 360 in sales as well. That's considering GS' scores and/or Metacritic, of course (both end up with the same result).
And back on topic: no, the exclusives don't appeal to me. Plus weaker hardware at the same price. No reason to get less while spending more. Maybe with time both factors can change.

Well since we're talking about purchasing hardware, and he is referencing price, I would imagine we're talking about sales.
Unlikely, I'd probably wait till they hit something like $199 and have an actual library worth playing, unless they get a major push in exclusives that interest me.
No, I still won't buy an X1 and never will.
It's not out of spite or thinking the X1 is a bad system, it's that I already bought a PS4 (no regrets) and only have time these days to support one system.
It's odd how when you're younger, you have time and little money. Then when you're older, you have money but little time.
Sure if it has the games I wish to play.. Visually I don't give a fvck about what either one can push because it literally has done nothing for gaming thus far.. People were raving their asses off before the PS4 released about how innovative and amazing Killzone was going to be.. Only to prove yet again it was a rehash of past games with shinier graphics.. Both these systems have minimal libraries bloated by games you could play on last gen systems, and have absolutely no backwards comparability at this time..
Nobody is gonna buy it, the people railing against kinect were ps4 fanboys... MS mistook them for actual potential consumers. The people craptalking the inclusion of kinect were not perspective customers, just fanboys that have no intention of buying the console.
