Hello, its been awhile since I been on gamespot so it may as well be that im a new member. I used to post back before radical site design change a little bit here and there. But it seems the sites more stable then back when the change first occurred.

Anyway my topic is on the Nintendo Switch during Oct-Jan 1st.

Here,s the thing, the Xbox One and PS4 are peaking. They will be getting the mass level adoption price drops this year. On top of that, the biggest third party games.

Then theres another factor, the PS4 Pro, price drop or not, will likely be better advertised this year than last year, along with Xbox having the more powerful Scorpio equal that will get the new console release feel without really being a "new" console.

The Switch has a good launch, but outside of Japan im not seeing that trend really continuing anywhere in europe. We won't know about the U.S. until may. But How will the Switch compete against all those factors plus mobile? The U.S> and japan are Nitnendos top two markets and I think that Nintendo needs the U.S. to be a hit for the system to even think of reaching 3DS numbers. I just feel like the Wii U the Switch may have been bad timing.

While I want the Switch to die a painful and horrible death, its going to linger longer than I would like so it should "fine" for the holiday season.

Of course it's going to survive the holiday season. With all of the Nintendo games releasing this year including Super Mario Odyssey in the fall, and the console being in its first year and selling very well I don't see how it could not survive.

Nintendo needs to play this smart . It has nothing to do with what Sony or MS might do ... Its them against themselfs really

The thing though is that is not Gamecubes games that will save the day for Switch. And im not talking about total sales , noone cares at this point if Switch sales end up being 100M or 30M in the end . Everyone care about NEW GAMES and games and more games.

Nothing wrong for having old titles as emulation but that ... wont be the reason why people will buy Switch by any means.

It should do fine. Super Mario Oddysey is hitting. Giving the Switch its first killer app which is not already available on the Wii U.

No question it will. The real question is about another console that's gameless.

It'll sell marginally well to the Nintendo fans who couldn't get one before because of Nintendo's once again shady practice of purposely manufacturing in small quantities, but after that, sales aren't going to be much different than the Wii U. No one really cares about Nintendo consoles anymore.

I'm sure it'll be fine this year since it just released. Don't see it doing that well afterwards because it won't have many multiplats and rely completely on Mario again.

Maybe Skyrim will save it. (lol)

I think the Nintendo Switch will do very well during the holidays. But I think more people will get Switch because of the hyperbole surrounding it and consumer impulse. While more people who really wants a system that is an all in one system that will be a showcase in their entertainment center will choose a Scorpio & Pro instead. And if the regular Xbox's and PS's get discounted some more, those could make a killing as much as the Switch. The Switch needs to be well stocked though and Nintendo need to stop with that fake supply constraint.

Nintendo has increased Switch production by literally 15%, there is no fake supply constraint. The thing is actually sold out.

Anyone who doubts the Switch will survive in the holiday season is fooling themselves, Mario Odyssey alone will guarantee its success. Just watch Nintendo announce Pokemon Stars for it in E3, that would make it a megaton hit!

1.the ps4 hasnt peaked yet? haha ok...

it peaked about 2 years ago. the pro was a flop and didnt invigorate sales as planned. ps4 will sell great this holiday but will be worse than last year.

2.as for the switch..... it will all depend on nintendo's holiday commercials and how good mario odyssey is. the commercials need to be geared to adults. if it's all children or familys it might be lights out.

3.and...... the scorpio... umm... i think it will not do that good unless it has exclusive games. if all the games for it will be playable on a regular x1 then it will sell better than the ps4 pro but not as good as hoped.

They have Mario coming out. Zelda already in place for the system. They would have to do something real stupid to not survive.

Think about it. 4 big heavy hitters of Wii U--Zelda, Splatoon, Mario Kart, and Mario--will all have been released for Switch by the holiday season. Less than one year. It could be one of the best launch year by any system in the history.

It'll be fine in 2017 and should have some key game launches in early 2018 to keep it going. Nintendo has salvaged their North American marketing efforts and has successfully built a gaming console that doesn't directly compete with the other platforms. It's not going to get that "blue ocean" that the Wii got, but it'll find enough success to keep it going strong.

Nintendo was wise to consolidate to one platform rather than split development between two. They may sell less units overall, but the game selection should be higher ensuring more consistent sales throughout with higher profit margin than attempting to keep two separate product lines running.

They aren't peaking. PS4 and XB1 are old stuff now. Most people who wanted one already have one. People are moving on to PC.

Yeah, it would be totally better if Nintendo stopped being Nintendo and released a console that's a copy of the PS and Xbox. We totally need 3 consoles that are exactly the same. Would be so much fun!
