Will PSN be up on Destiny launch day? Place your bets!

What do you think System Wars? Will we be able to play Destiny online on launch day? I know there were issues when the Alpha and Beta launched. Most of us even had trouble confirming alpha/beta keys. And then there was the recent Minecraft launch........

Xbox Live has been slightly more stable as of late. But I rather not play at all than at that choppy framerate. I do have standards.

Yeah I remember that. It's total b.s. that every time a new game comes out, PSN/XBL goes down. Digital only future my ass.

Well, i know Destiny's structure isn't the exact same has an mmo, but, anyone with some knowledge of the genre like me, will tell you launch is a fucking nightmare.

I'm not sure how robust Sony's and MS's servers are, but considering the massive pre-orders for both consoles, they better be ready for an always online "mmo fps"

So, my guess is, probably not.

There will be a crap ton of people online, just like with Titanfall. (But probably more.) I wouldn't be surprised if PSN crashed.

I see issues across the board. It happens to PC online MMOs all the time. This is the world we live in.

I'm glad I don't even care for Destiny.

Did they ever catch those Lizard people? It would be an opportune time for them to strike PSN again when Destiny comes out. But even without these hackers that could easily exploit PSN, it's a good guess that PSN will have more issues than Xbox Live. I pre-ordered and pre-loaded already for the XO, so it looks like every thing will go smoothly.

No online game is safe from first day outages even with the mighty WoW and it's expansions the idea of playing the first day is laughable.

It's also easy to ask about how come the devs aren't prepared for the influx of users but in truth it's just not worth the cost for devs to add servers/infrastructure for a very short period in the games life and they'd rather eat a few days of customers moaning than eat the loss.

So my answer is - probably not, but it won't be PSN's fault as it's what happens with highly anticipated online games.

Considering it will probably sell a ton on PS4 i say yeah..

Destiny will be mostly retail and the digital copies will be pre-loaded.

I can see Activision's servers on both PSN and XBL a bit though. Like freedomfreak said, remember GTA Online?

Yea but on PC you can play on psuedo-man made servers with a few people.

The 1 system is still there and untouchable.

@GoldenElementXL: I'll be one of the first to know because I'm getting the game at Midnight on Monday. I hope I can play it online. If it fails, I'm sure there will be a slew of gamers on SW complaining about it.

What console? I have the Ghost Edition pre ordered but I'm not sure I will be able to pick it up in time to play Monday night. We'll have to see. I might just buy the Digital Deluxe version and keep the Ghost edition sealed which would solve my problem. Who knows.

I anticipate outages will happen on both networks

Yeah you're gonna need to elaborate more, my post was talking about online only games which the PC also gets screwed over on at launch.
