I played the demo, personally I felt that it was great and ill definitely buy it...however people in the forums, boards are complaining about how bad it runs on their computer and how its a rehash of Far Cry.

Now take in account that I generally heard more bad things about the game more then good...so where does that leave the sales? Will it sell poorly because of the rather overwhelming amount of people that cant run the game smoothly? Whats your predictions?

I doubt it will sell atm, I mean it really demands a huge pc to run the game in all it's glory. And let's face it not everyone has a gaming PC.

FarCry required a monster rig to play when it came out and was bombasted by players and press for how badly it ran on hardware at the time.

Fast forward two million sales and a 9.4GS score later and id say it did well.

I snooped around some forums like Crysis-online, PCgamer and gamespot itself but this is generally what I heard, noone else.

No, but alot of people do.

Also, Far Cry was demanding relative to hardware of the time, at least as demanding as Crysis is of current-generation hardware, yet Far Cry sold VERY well.

perhaps if they looked past graphics and into the gameplay department. i have a quad core and 2 gig of ram (not bad i assume) but i have a 7600 nvidia. but the demo looked great still. if people actually lowered their expectation or need to run everything max, maybe they wouldnt be so angry. i ran at all low settings and i still like the game (but sadly, i suck at it so maybe ill enable god mode when aliens attack me  )

and of course, the sandbox editor is so confusing. i took a few classes with 3d programming a few years ago and it looks just like it. only problem is i dont know how to use it at all :P

if you plan on playing low settings, which is actually decent, you dont really need a "1000 dollar pc." it could sell. it has the potential as long as not everyone wants to max it out.

Hell no, not many can afford $5,000 to spend updating their PC's just to play Crysis.

Yeah, you're right. Good thing nobody has to spend more than 1,200 at the very most.

We sure are lucky, right? :)

I've spent at most about 800 bucks so far on mine upgrading it, I've had no problems at all with anything on max.

Overexaggerations ftl.

Exactly! I recently looked into getting a new desktop computer to replace my rapidly aging gaming laptop (a 7900 GS don't cut it no more) and I found that I could build something really nice for only 900 or less.

people who have problems are much much more likly to post their problems than those who are able to run the game decently

I dont think so... I personally don't know anyone in real life that has heard of it and for that matter that even have the slightest chance to run it.

It will sell decently, but not enough imo considering how big it's supposed to be. It's been hyped so much with the graphics that people are gonna be dissapointed when they can't make it look like that. Yes Farcry had pretty high requirements for maxed out settings at the time as well, but it wasn't really hyped all that much and it kinda took people by a surprise both gameplay and graphics vise. Now the par is higher and they made some big promises which they've had trouble fulfilling.

Hell Far Cry sold over 4 million apparantly.
