Why isn't Thief hyped? Unaware console gamers?

The new "Thief" remake looks like a very high quality game, better than Assassin's Creed IV or MGS 4. The Thief series is well known in the PC gaming community as one of the best stealth games series of all time. However, on Gamespot, it is hardly mentioned by console gamers.

This is another case of an incredible game being overlooked because of lack of advertising and hype.

Because most people remain skeptical as to how the game will turn out in the end. It does look like a game to "wait and see how it turns out" before hyping it.

I enjoyed thief on PC years ago. I might give this a try depending on how it turns out

The new one looks like crap.

I absolutely adore the Thief series on PC but this looks and sounds like teenager instant gratification trash to me....

I'm looking forward to it.

Because it looks anything but a Thief game and most of the stuff shown so far looks terrible.

Anyways I never played a thief game on pc and the game doesn't really look all that fun from the videos i seen. I would hope it plays better then what it looks.

Why not start a hype thread?

I haven't played the older Thief games so I can't judge its correlation with them but generally from what I've seen, the game looks a little boring.

When Dishonored was announced(a game very similar to Thief in some aspects) I was all hyped for the atmosphere and the stealth aspect of the game. So far I haven't felt the same with Thief. I'm still interested in seeing more content and footage but I haven't got any high expectations to be honest.

NOOOO...it cant be that..the obvious answer is, because console casuals know nothing of true art and games and only flock towards COD..duhh...thats what the TC and a couple others are going for..might as well play along..lol

Obviously you have no clue as to the epicness of Thief games. Another case of the clueless console gamer.

If console gamers were aware just how great the Thief series of games are, they would be hyping this game to no end.

Anyways, if the new console version of Thief scores high on Metacritic, then maybe there will be more future awareness of the series by console gamers. Not that online reviews mean anything anyways, but at least they will get the word out there.

It's funny because a lot of that is kind of crap.

Like saying that they're changing it from a Medieval to a Victorian setting despite the fact that the originals had a heavy Victorian aesthetic.

And the point about how it "completely does away with the magical elements of the series" is a bald-faced lie.

They decided to have QTE and that doesn't sound too good to start development. It'll be another Ryse.

The QTE have been removed. As for what was there anyway, comparing it to Ryse is kinda stupid.

Looks rubbish enjoyed the first 2 thiefs, but as some previews seem to suggest its very limited, guards so seems a step backward and honestly it just looks rubbish. Thief was a great game for how hard it was and patients was the key, this just seems like a dumbes down version but we will see

Obviously you didn't read anything in that image, because the new Thief basically craps on everything that people liked about the series, instead turning it into another bland, generic, terrible mainstream modern gaming garbage.

I'm not not a fan of Thief. I've never played a Thief game. I posted that image because it makes it pretty clear why people aren't hyping this game.

I'm a console gamer and I'm stoked for the new Thief. Stealth as a genre has been dead and is only graced by a few titles each century; other than that it's just a smaller element of a much bigger, more varied project.

While I did like Dishonored it was essentially BioShock with a sword. Thief is going to blow it out of the water, hopefully.

I will undoubtedly be getting this game... however I don't expect it to be as good as the series used to be... to many people want casualization for it to be quite as good in my opinion. If I am proven wrong then that is a win/win situation for me... lol

IDK, all I ever see about the game is when PC elitist bitch and moan because it isn't Thief 2.

I'm not expecting much, but I get it for free with the AMD promo bundle, so I'll give it a shot.

Spare me. When it comes out, PC gamers will piss and moan it was consolized. Game looks well made, but I don't get into first person stealth for some reason.

Not all of them, actually. A fair number of them are conjecture, which as I have pointed out is either flat-out false or indicates a rather tinted memory of the originals; apparently people like the zombie/monsters levels in Thief 1 now.

You corrected like two cosmetic things and then left every other awful sounding thing as is. I'm not going to fact check information on a game I don't give a shit about.

Most PC exclusives have some trouble on consoles, they have much stronger competition going up against a console's library. But i think Thief will do ok, there's not alot coming out for these next gen consoles and it will get attention. Deus Ex:Human Revolution was critically and commercially successful, i dont see why this game wont be as well.

Because during development they over hauled it and changed it a lot. Not something that bodes well for any game. Not to mention they have shown nothing promising at all. And it pretty much looks like a rip off of dishonored which is already a terrific game. When you spend a year talking about your game but not actually saying anything about it then that tends to not get gamers excited.

No one is hyping it, console gamers or PC gamers because no one really cares.

All the previews I've read give off a "its been riddled with modern gaming elements and not being something different"

thief is a pretty terrible series. Even herms have admitted this. the last one was so broken you couldn't get past the first 5 minutes

I played the PC games and loved them, I'm very aware, I'm afraid they wont stick to the true roots of the game, guess we'll see.
