Why is Square Enix wasting money on KH3 for Xbox?

No ones gonna buy the game for xbox when it doesn't have any of the earlier releases, not to mention the fact that japanese games don't sell at all on xbox in the first place...

No idea. They already killed Tomb Raider by making the last one timed exclusive for a year to Xbox which is a big reason why the new one was a sales disaster.

Kingdom Hearts 3 should be a Switch exclusive. It looks like a game children would love.

Yeah why did Square kill Dragon Quest 11 by putting only on PS4 making it a no-name game in West, compared to Monster Hunter World put on both establishing it as a power house in West with all-time best selling release from Capcom.

Nah MS already has that market covered with Lucky's Tale and Sea of Thieves.

I'm sure Spencer mumbled something at E3 about the early games coming to Xbox. Regardless, the series is confusing as all hell so going into K3 blindfold will put Xbox gamers in the same boat as people who have played every damn KH game to date.

I was thinking what square enix were thinking the game wont sell at all on the system. Whether people like or not the xbox one is not a jrpg system.

DQXI and MHW are stand alone titles, meaning you don't need the previous games to understand the next ones, DQXI and MHW didn't flop.

KH on the other hand is a series that follows a (convoluted) story and is plot-heavy, meaning you have to play everything to understand what is going on.

Except that the fanbase is mostly 25-30 year old, since the first game was released on 2002, 14 years ago and the story is still the same.

Square is pretty dumb in decision making. They are just lucky they have big franchises to support them, would have gone down under pretty fast without FF and DQ fans buying everything they releases.

Giant titles being exclusives without any money from console makers is complete no sense.In this era at least.

By that logic, why are western devs bothering with Nintendo? Even if they were, oh I don't know, currently a second party? Hell, even former ones like Rare (England) and Silicon Knights (Canada)?
