Why is PS3 's online better/worse than 360?

I constantly hear PS3's online is garbage. Is it garbage cause its free?

Why? I cant understand

Both system you go online and play games with your friends

One system has lag one doesn't.

One system has a price one doesnt

Both have friend lists

Both have a download center

so what else?!?I cant undestand.

It's anything but garbage. It may not be on the same level as Xbox Live, but it's a great service and will continue to get better and better.

I haven't used PSN yet, so I can't say for sure. But with PSN, can you have cross-game invites? With XBL, I can play PGR3, get an invite to a game of GRAW, and I can instantly accept the invite and jump to the GRAW lobby as soon as I switch discs.

Also, with PSN, can you do other things while downloading content? With XBL, I can download game demos, movie trailers, tv shows, game trailers, and XBL arcade games, and still be able to do other things like play games, watch videos, listen to music, etc.

XBL headsets are pretty much standard, so voice communication is pretty common and integral to tactical games. And if someone is blabbing their mouth, you can mute them without muting everyone else. My understanding is that PSN voice communication is few and far between.
