Median Income in Europe is lower than in the U.S and Japan, but they have to pay a premium for PS3. Is Sony trying to scam Europeans. I sure think so. ManofKnowledge
Consider that EU pay lots of taxes e.g VAT etc etc etc.
Sony didn't just say, Umm lets charge EU harder
Everything is more expensive in Europe. Because the European currency is higher. MudigIf that were true than PS3 would cost the most in UK and least in Australia. But even in Australia it cost more than in the U.S. Currency should have no affect on the issue.

That doesn't make much sense, you know? There are things called "currency converters", which tell you how high you should price your stuff. And having a more valuable currency doesn't change anything - they just get paid less euros than you'd get dollars.
The actual answer, I don't really know. Might be inertia because an euro used to be worth a dollar, so it became the norm that you could just take the $ out and slap the E in. Nowadays, an Euro is actually 1.33 (or so) USD, so it's no longer valid. This, however, does not account to the frankly bizarre pricing strategies of Sony. In mexico the 60GB PS3 was $1175 USD, now it's $890 (tax included).
Sony Australia actually said it was because of smaller potential populations of consumers.
Don't fool yourself into thinking it's all about currency conversion and tax (because it's high even taking those into account).
Sony is simply prioritising it's markets. Why do you think Japan is the cheapest?
WAIT WAIT, Does the PS3 price in Europe already include sales tax?ManofKnowledgehere in nz yes which means the gst content is $150 of the $1200 and there is also import tax not sure how much
here in mexico ps3 are 14,449 pesos :|
now thats just ******* retarded
Kaosed
Holy monkeys, where are you? Here in Monterrey they started at $12,999 and are now at $9,890! (MX Pesos, for you non-mexicans. These are about 11-11.2 pesos per US dollar, and 14.75 pesos per euro).
cuz gov dont steal half of ur paycheck and seeing a doctor is free, and medicine is cheaper than dirt.GermanShepard06
Actually, americans have it very nice. Taxes are really low on the US compared to the EU and other places, like Mexico.
