The game, which releases tomorrow, was rated by Eurogamer as "essential". It currently has an 85 metacritic score right now, out of 22 critics. I was an early access player of the first game, and enjoyed it, although the realism aspect of it was a bit demanding to me. I'm willing to give this one a go, though. I like Rally racing games. How about you, SW? Any interest in Dirt Rally 2.0?

I'm very excited. got it pre-loaded on steam and my wheel is ready to go. well, sitting in a box next to my desk in a tangle of wires but it'll be ready by tomorrow

Dirt Rally is easily my favourite sim-ish racing game ever and I can't wait to dive into this one after Dirt 4 didn't quite live up to the first Rally

It's kind of a niche genre, though the last few games did seems to get more hype if I remember correctly. Maybe over-saturation? The first Rally and 4 didn't come out that long ago, did they?

The chances of it being better than Wave Race 64 is a 0% chance.

My brother is very into rally racers (he has a dedicated setup with a seat + steering wheel), so I'm waiting for him to tell me the word on it.

I heard the career mode progression is locked if you are offline which is a turn off for most none online users. Why do race games even require this feature for their single player portions? Even GTS which is arguably the most popular driving game lost sales because of that stupid online-to-save garbage! Dirt Rally 2.0 is a total lost on my list!

Bc not many people can handle rally games.

Closed circuit courses are easier.

I will talk about it as soon as I can play it. I can’t wait to play it in VR on Oculus Rift.

Yes but games cost money and only so much time X/Y/Z factors in and all that.

@uninspiredcup: We're talking about racing games not fighting games.

I don't know how you keep mixing them up. It must be all those bumps to the head from the coffee table when you nod off while playing snoozefighter 5 lol.

Dirt Rally is a great series. Easily one of the best racers out there. Dirt Rally on the PSVR is freaking amazing, and DR 2.0 has already been confirmed to support VR eventually. The best thing about this series is that it actually takes skill to play and be good at, way more than arcade racers like Forza. It's a straight rally sim and only skilled racers need apply, but regardless it's a blast for everyone. Very underrated series imo, even with the good scores.

Not crazy about these rally racers. They’re all about keeping within a tiny road, hard turns, solo racing against a clock, and that annoying co-pilot. One was just free with XBL Gold. I think it’s a Codemasters game too. Not horrible, but not great either. Coming from the Forza games means the bar has been raised rather high. Codemasters, while masters of the craft, just don’t meet Forza standards.

The choice to make the career mode always online was a bad move for Dirt Rally 2.0. Otherwise, it's pretty damn good! Dirt, F-Zero GX, and Forza Horizon games are my favorite racers.

The first one was pretty cool, but I just have a hard time getting into racers. I played it for an hour and never went back. Got it for cheap, luckily.

@heirren: Oh my God. I loved me some Wave Racer 64. It was the only racer game I really played to death.

The game seems fantastic, but it's also a really hardcore game.

I loved the first Dirt Rally, but it also made it clear that I really suck at these games.

I'm just taking the easy way out and play some more Forza Horizon ;)

yeah but in a good way.

When you only have half an hour or maybe an hour to game each day it's a good thing when a game is quick and accesible.

i have the first one but...well...it really does need a wheel and paddles to be effective at. a pad just doesnt seem to cut it for this one. that's my excuse anyway and im sticking to it :P.

i probably will pick up 2.0 at some stage but dirt 4 first.

i enjoyed the older Colin McRae games more (which were not sims...at all. i used to play them with a keyboard :D).

I made it to the highest level of the career mode in Rally 1 with a pad with cockpit camera. it took some tenacity but was very rewarding. I have a wheel now and Ill use if for Rally 2.0 some of the time but its kinda a hassle to set up so i'll probably end up playing it a bunch on a pad as well.

people in here are missing out on an amazing game series

Maybe because car games in general (rally or racing) dont gather the hype they used to?

I think pretty much nowadays only lems (only because of Forza) and car enthusiasts in general still hype these type of games

I am, but just very quietly, and to myself. Why? Don't want to upset Forza. :(
