Why is Nintendo getting away with selling overpriced Switch accessories?

An AC adapter is $29.99
The Pro Controller is $69.99
Joy Con is $79.99
The Joy Grip Charge (remember, your joy grip doesn't charge, you have to buy a separate accessory) is $29.99!

You would think that Nintendo would be better with their pricing since the Wii U got demolished, but that is not the case. What are your thoughts on this vital topic, SW?

The biggest fraud is a $299.00 price of the Switch itself.

If you do not like the price of an accessory, do not buy it at that price. Just wait until the price drops or find a place that will sell it for less.

The AC adapter is a USB-C plug, so you could probably buy a cheaper one (although I would avoid the cheaper cords due to quality issues, I still have two cords left over from the Galaxy Note 7 I had to give back).

As for the rest of it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see what the features are on each accessory. I will give it to them, at least we can buy our own cards and they didn't go down the Vita route with their overpriced memory cards.

Pretty much. Nintendo will milk who they can milk up front and when that dries up we should start seeing more reasonable prices... hopefully lol.

@SolidGame_basic: For the same reason Nintendo getting away of selling a seriously underpowered system for 299$, the same reason why Wii U even in life support was costing so much , the same reason why most of Nintendos AAA games are not getting price cuts early enough and the list goes on and on.

Blame the people that letting all those shits pass by just because ... Nintendo making Zelda and Mario games. I wont blame Nintendo on this , ill blame fanboys that not only wont tell anything negative but theyll praise such decisions as well.

Controllers are expensive already. And they knew that they'd sell out right away at pre order. But i cant really defend the joy con and adapter, unless they come with some accessory i dont know about.

Tell that to the sold out consoles.

And thats the point. Some of the reason the vita bombed was because of the effing 75 dollar memory cards.

Eeeeh WAIT, so you mean you are forced to buy "The Joy Grip Charge", is that not included in the box you get with the console?

Nintendo is genius, Joy con is split into left and right Joy con so they can charge you double price, no wonder they make profits...

Yea they are over price..but as with all things its up to the consumers to say no..remember 3DS launch price?..how that was drop quite early & Iwata came out and apologise for it. I'll be waiting for 3rd party pro controllers from Hori..etc. :P

If only hardcore Nintendo fanboys are buying it then Nintendo aren't getting away with anything..because hardcore Nintendo fanboys will buy regardless...aren't hardcore Nintendo fanboys already a minority?... :P

The same reason Sony and Microsoft can get away with charging $59.99 to $64.99 for their stuff, the same reason Sony could charge so much for memory cards and the same reason that Sony can charge $400 for a vr headset because they can.

I know they're like that with games, but never knew them to be like that with accessories. Though admittedly I've never paid attention, so maybe they are lol.

Either way it's a non-issue for me. I'll be just fine with what the system comes with. The only accessory I might want down the road is the Pro controller. But that's only if the system gets some sweet ass action game like Bayo 3 or something.

I'm not a fan of the $70 price tag of the Pro controller but there is more tech in it than a regular controller. Case in point, the Amiibo sensor is built into the controllers instead of the system. Missed opportunity to save consumers some cash on accessories.

I've seen them get nothing but flak for it, but it doesn't mean they'll lower the price just because a few opinion leaders on the web don't like it.

They're going to see how well they sell first and then cut prices if sales don't meet expectations, like with the 3DS.

The prices are crazy. It's all over the place. The accessories are definitely on Nintendo but some of the games such as Street Fighter II are way more costly than I feel they should too.

2. Who's forcing you to buy anything?

3. Welcome to video games...not a cheap hobby.

Ok you want a REAL answer?

The joy cons are $79 for a pair because each one is like a wiimote. Remember those? Priced $40 each and the nunchucks were $30, that controller was priced 70 total.

You have to think of each joycon as a single wiimote. That's why you can buy them seperate or together.

AC adapter....who needs more than one that comes with the system? The Switch charges with a casual usb type c that most everyone already has at home.

Pro controller...there's lots of tech inside this thing: NFC reader, gyro controls, HD rumble, all in one package. It's cheaper than the joy con bundle.

But tell me again how much you know about the labor and investment required to make all this brand new stuff...and then tell me how you want to sell it all at a loss.

You're not forced to buy the Joy Grip charge...... the Joy-cons charge when clipped on the Switch..... don't mislead people to make a point.

The Joy Con have lots of tech in it. Dunno if they are overpriced or not.

Pro controller does look overpriced tho.

Not to mention each joy con has 20 hours of battery life....vs...4 hours of PS4 controller life...and the xbox one still uses batteries for goodness sake.

BUT Nintendo are the evil ones. OKAY.

You have to buy at least one game. But with the switch and one game you're all set to go.
