Why does everyone on this board talk complete crap?

Doesn’t negatively effect me but I am curious as you’ve all become great sources of entertainment.

Today's System Wars is cute, you should have been here around 2006 (which seems to be the year you joined), now that System Wars was the shit.

Today I just marvel at their stupidity.

The entire world treats each other like system wars these days. While system wars was essentially a farce of a worldview, that worldview of "hate everyone that doesn't agree with me" became reality in almost all aspects of our lives.

I'm honestly disgusted to be human.

Blame social media and also the Internet! When I was growing up as a child in the 1980s and 1990s (before the popularity of the Internet), I never recalled the tribalism and polarization I am seeing from the last several years. It does not help that younger generations are making the tribalism and polarization of today even worse.

By the way, I am in my mid-forties.

@onesiphorus: I do blame social media as a primary reason for it though there are other reasons. It's why I got rid of social media all together.

Yeah it’s pretty sad the depths that some go to just to talk trash on other people. Perhaps they’re compensating for something they lack in their lives or maybe they just don’t care in general. Anyway this place has been on its death knell for quite some time so not much of anything ever seems to be done about the personal insults and toxic behaviour. I can only imagine that some people’s accounts wouldn’t last a day on any remotely active place.

Half the professionals know even less about games than me. They barely have something equating to basic motor function.

The negativity is the draw. Take that away and what do you have? The Gamespot forums would be a graveyard without this place

People see the phrase "system wars" and assumes it's a place to make disingenuous and dishonest comments to stir up the "other team" rather than have honest or intellectual conversations. We know who those people are.

Indeed. Back then, I was a lurker until I joined back in 2014 and I can personally say that I blame Gamespot's 2013 revamp the entire site and GS lost over 1,000 members because of the changes and as of right now, SW is a shadow of its former self.

In 2006 the forums here were something else, I think Gamespot may have had one of the most active forum boards on the internet. Plus there was a thing called unions which were like a group with a custom forum board and mini-blog. To me GS started going downhill around 2007-2008 when they started to ignore unions and let them die, and then they killed them off I think with the 2013 revamp.

I had a union but decided to request its deletion when they were leaving them to die (it was already basically dead anyways). When they did the site revamp they gave the union leaders an option to keep their union's forum board alive and so the last union I was a part of still has its own board which is dead (of course).

All that rambling... screw you GS for killing off such a nice place! 😒

Today's system wars is tame

I think the issue stems from there being very few bragging rights these days. Most of console and PC gaming has become homogenized. That leads to a lot of silly and dishonest threads that are just senseless trolling/shit posting. The average thread quality has gone downhill big time. Lets be honest here... unless you are a dumb fanboy, you should be interested in all games regardless of platform. That being said, everyone who posts on SW is a little bit fucked in the head. Some more than others obviously. We all have issues though.

I don't care what you prefer, you can kiss my butt and keep frowning at my posts. Man up and and be a system warrior or go back and play with your dollies for emotional support.
