@sukraj:
Why do you prefer consoles?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
i prefer on console for single play experience due i like rpgs most likely jrpg or wrpg but on PC most likely MMO or RTS
I game on both. I hate missing out on good games because of some stupid loyalty to a platform or company.
I don't prefer one over the other.
B/c I like playing games....not PC games....or console games.
Just games.
Pretty fair assessment.
Shocking to find out you don't know everything, right?
How would I know?
B/c you acted like you knew me.....so obviously you knew me right?
@mr_huggles_dog: You made statements as if you knew me based on my avatar. So you knew me, right?
Obviously you like The Joker or you wouldn't have have him as your avatar.
Then it's the way you replied with a "But of course" as if your in a Grey Poupon commercial.
I get it...you thought you were being smart...but I just proved you wrong without even thinking about it....and you're still stalking me with your little "diabolical"plan.
So it seems you're the only one playing along....so I guess I was right.
Weird. I like PC gaming for the fidelity and console gaming for the stability...
Although with buggy, unresponsive firmware and shoddy porting those lines are getting awfully blurry. I have my frustrations with both these days but probably more with consoles because I'm used to having to diagnose shit on the PC. That comes with the territory.
I like PC because:
I may be running my games on an obsolete cheap GPU but man... It feels good that I got my PC and my experience on my own terms, gotta upgrade sometime though :P
@mr_huggles_dog: Like you said at he end, you're guessing.
You laid out a scheme...a plan of action that you thought would be smart.
You completely assumed everything about me.
You're still carrying out your silly scheme.
I've gone on about my business in and in the process proved you wrong.
The two greatest game companies of all time, Sega and Nintendo, were and are all about consoles and therefore they are the best.
Look at the difference between sega with console on the market, and sega without console on the market. Consoles bring fourth the most legendary groundbreaking and culturally significant games the world has ever and ever will see.
@mr_huggles_dog:
wrong about? I already logically proved you're not about fairness.
Is that why I said something fair?
And then you said "Thats a fair assessment"?
Come on, man. Stick with your convictions.
I game on both. I hate missing out on good games because of some stupid loyalty to a platform or company.
It's not about PC vs Consoles. It's about, what you like on each platform that you prefer to play on. If you play everything then what you like about them?
I'm happy with either but I prefer PC for the flexibility and options. I like that on PC I can play at my desk with Keyboard and mouse or a controller, stream to my laptop to play on the TV in the lounge with my controller or wireless K/M, take my laptop with me and continue my save file while I'm away at work or just lying in bed. Mods are fantastic too and keep me playing games for longer or coming back to them again later. RTS games are also one of my favourite genres so that sways me too of course!
I think I'd prefer it if everything just released on PC tbh but as that's not the case I do buy consoles. The one thing I do like that the PC isn't great for is the local multi-player games on Nintendo consoles. Most may be pretty casual but it's great fun with a few people over.
@sukraj:
So you prefer "ease of use", even over all the pros for PC gaming? You're saying that you would take ease of use over cheaper games, better graphics, better performance, more games, mod support, hardware customization/upgradeability, PC being cheaper in the long term, etc?
Console for the IP's I like and convenience plus I'm just no techy these dayzzz so I just want the less fuss possible.
@mr_huggles_dog:

the word fair was in italics for a reason
@elkoldo:
"Console because of best exclusives, much less cost."
It is entirely opinion when it comes to the issue of exclusive games.
In the long term, PC gaming is FAR cheaper than console gaming. We are not paying $50-60 (or more) per year for online gaming. We don't pay anything for it, which is how it should be. We don't have to pay $60 for new games. Many great PC games launch for less than $30. Not to mention that Steam has massive discounts and sales. I have saved literally hundreds of dollars by buying PC games. I bought Far Cry 3 for $7.49, The Witcher 2 for less than $3.00, etc..
Here are many examples of how much you spend on console gaming- http://i.imgur.com/8sLpRS9.png
I like both for different reasons...
Console:
PC:
Frankly, I don't give a crap about graphics and I give even less of a crap about online multi-player. I still enjoy playing NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES games every bit as much as I do contemporary games. There are things I hate about both PC and Console.
@UnbiasedPoster: "Better MP community (less cheaters, less weirdos, more nice people)"
Wow that is a straight up lie.
Reliable... Another lie.
Convenient. Another lie.
Cheaper. Again... A lie.
Rentals? Uh... Okay. I guess if your still into that sorta thing.
Standard controllers. Yea because you have no alternative.
KB/M is FAR more immersive when it comes to fps as it closer emulates holding and firing a weapon. ( unless your left handed )
The last thing is the only truth. Couch co-op. Thats it.
Wow that is a straight up lie.
Reliable... Another lie. Not really, software is typically much more reliable on Consoles. Hardware is a wash, especially when you have a high-end PC
Convenient. Another lie. I play both and I find Consoles to be much more convenient than PC.
Cheaper. Again... A lie. Console hardware is much cheaper than PC. You can't borrow/trade games with your buddy on PC either.
Rentals? Uh... Okay. I guess if your still into that sorta thing.
Standard controllers. Yea because you have no alternative. Yes, you have alternatives, they're called "aftermarket"
KB/M is FAR more immersive when it comes to fps as it closer emulates holding and firing a weapon. ( unless your left handed ) I hate KB+M, personally, but I also don't play shooters.
The last thing is the only truth. Couch co-op. Thats it.
PC.
PC gaming is an open market of gaming ideas with no big bully telling them what can and cannot enter hte platform. The KB/M control scheme also works way better for the genres I like. Instead of playing Whac-a-mole with guns, I get to re-enact my fantasies and conquer the world. EVERYTHING WILL BE MINE!!!
That isnt to say I cannot game on consoles. I have a Wii U, a 3DS and a Vita.
@Motokid6: In all honesty, I play PC almost exclusively now, and it's mostly because I can game on my laptop in the same room as my wife. I used to play on my desktop, but it always felt like I was holed-up in the other room, away from my wife. With laptops, especially, you have to drop some coin to have a capable machine, because your hardware upgrade options are usually very limited...RAM and that's about it.
Fortunately, I don't play anything too hardware intensive..mostly Civ V.
Consoles. I had a nice PC for 2 years and enjoyed the hell out of it.
I just prefer the simplicity of consoles at the end of a long day. I know it's an unpopular opinion here.
PC. as a gaming platform and a device to play games on it has no equal imho.
it comes in many shapes and sizes from monsterous goliaths to laptops (its now possible to build a PC thats not much bigger than an X1 and can house a gtx 980. its not cheap but its an option). i got a gaming laptop because it was either that or no more gaming for a while. great to have the option.
it can use any controller i want (except maybe the gamepad...does that have a dirver yet?).
it has cracking exclusives (pillars of eternity this weekend....sweet :D) and the best version of most multiplats.
since its an open platform it has the best services since several companies are trying to beat each other in this area.
its just a cracking platform and its ours.
i do play on console and handheld though for the exclusives. i would never miss out on something like xenoblade.
but given the choice it always the PC for me.
Console:
Generally cheaper and more reliable than PC.
I'm don't have to worry about upgrading hardware or software
1. About the "cheaper" part- PC gaming is FAR cheaper in the long run. Let's say you buy a PS4. That's $400. You want to play games online, so you buy a PSN year-long membership. $50. Now you want an extra controller so you can play with more friends. That's another $60. Now let's say you want a few new games, I'll say 4. For those 4 games, you'll be paying $240. When you add all that up, you've spent around $750. With only 4 games. And you can guarantee that people will be buying dozens of games for $60 each. Take a look at this collection of comments from console users on how much they spent- http://i.imgur.com/8sLpRS9.png
Now let's look at the cost of PC gaming. You could get a console-crushing machine for about the same price as a PS4 (see this build- http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yfPzRB ). You don't need to buy a $50-60 membership to play online. And like you admit, games on PC are far cheaper. I bought Far Cry 3 for $7.49 and The Witcher 2 for under $3.00. Good luck finding those deals on a console.
2. Define "reliable".
3. Yes, you do have to worry about upgrading software. Ever heard of a Day 1 patch?

I like them because you don't have to upgrade your graphics card everytime and I grew up playing on consoles so I feel comfortable on that platform.

Define "everytime." Every two years? Three?

1. I don't play games online, so no subscription for me. What if you want an extra controller to play with friends on PC? You have to pay for that, too. Just like with PC, if you have patience, you can get games for far cheaper on console than their new release price. Plus you can buy used and trade discs with your friends. Also, you cannot buy many games on Steam, such as EA games. Also, if you wait a couple of years, you won't be paying $400 for a PS4....you'll get them for cheaper and you always have bundles that come with games or extra controllers for the same cost as the console itself. PC gamers act as if you only get deals on PC games/peripherals/hardware. I'll wager than you did not get Witcher and Far Cry for that cheap right after they released. You got those a few years after their retail release.
2. Reliable as in you don't run into near the amount of software version conflicts on Console that you do PC. Fallout New Vegas still crashes all of the time on my PC.
3. Day 1 patches are automatic updates. You don't have to know squat about installing them. On consoles, you never have to worry about your operating system losing support, your Direct X version becoming obsolete with newer versions being incompatible with your hardware. You also never have to look at a game and determine, yeah, my RAM and GPU will not run that game.
Believe me, I enjoy both console and PC, but PC gaming has far more roadblocks and headaches than console, unless you're willing to spend the time and money on a PC. Frankly, I have hobbies that I enjoy more than gaming, and they're equally as expensive and time consuming.

Real money saving? OFFLINE SYSTEM!!
I know loads of people that play offline all games that they paid 1/2 price each from same Steam/Origin account...
Can 3 console gamers play offline a game that they paid 1/3 price? Nope? They must buy 3 games. On pc 1 game will do.

I play single-player (console or PC) almost exclusively. The only multiplayer games I'll play are sports titles (FIFA, mostly). I know, like, one other person that games on PC.
