Could be dem russian sites.

Gmg is pretty darn fricken good already, so I'll stick to them for my future purchase.

@TC, a typical conselite is a typical movie go-er, they always buy into w.e the industry feeds them. High demand, high prices. PC/hermits are like princes or connoisseur with their choices, so they have to drive a hard bargain to get them to buy. Plus many other factors as others may of stated.

Console gamers pay for all that marketing. PC gamers don't have marketing. Word of mouth and the internet are how word is spread for PC games. That kind of marketing is pretty cheap.

PC has such great deals. I just saw Hitman: Absolution for $10 on Steam yesterday. Purchased Just Cause 2 for $3 and also purchased The Walking Dead Telltale Games bundle for $10.

CONSOLE GAMING : Comparable to taking out a loan for a car. Gives a false impression its cheaper. Sure you drive the car immediately, but you pay more in the long run as there is interest each month , especially if you are a heavy gamer and get like 20+ games per generation .   ( and by loan interest i mean publisher fees for each game that have to be paid)

PC GAMING : you are not allowed to take out a loan to get that car, You pay all upfront. But since you were able to do so, you dont have to pay any interest and you actually spend less on the long term because games are cheaper

Obviously this would not apply for enthusiast pc game builders as they squander money like no tommorrow, but a gaming build of around 800-1000 is perfect for a high end gaming system.

Since no fees have to be paid to the publisher, both methods of gaming end up being about the same investment. However with PC you get a clear advantage of better graphics and an open platform that SIMPLY DOES EVERYTHING.

PROS OF GAMING PC

-Emulation  of consoles and mobile gaming

-Steam equal cheap games (or get from amazon digital which is usually better)

-best platform for multiplats

-All games get extended lifes thanks to the mod community.. GTA 4 with enchancer.. Skyrim with mods, Arma 3 Dayz.. MODS GALORE. You name it, pc is better.

-most amount of Peripherals than all the consoles combined ( flight sicks,Virtual reality oculus rift , gamepads, progaming mice, mass button mice for mmo's, mech keyboards, Driving wheel and pedals,3 monitor set up, Eye tracker to do game commands with.

-Hook up your pc to your big HD 1080P TV and play on that xbox 360 controller @ the couch or on the BED which is better than the couch!

-If pc parts spoil you replace that part alone, if console part gets broken..You gotta send it back to the factory or get a new one. If your controller brakes, you gotta spend $50 u.s for another and the hard drive for consoles is OVERPRICED considering the size.

pc has $15 dollar logitech mouse/keyboard combo  for easy replacement

-Pc gaming library does not end at the end cycle of a console generation. The game is always there to be played .

Its just obvious pc gaming trumps console gaming in every possible way. Dont need to say anymore , it speaks for itself

Sleeping Dogs in October for $16BPoole96
I loved when Steam had Sleeping Dogs for $4.50 on Christmas sales. Even though it was for 30 minutes it was a hell of a deal.

Also, for add more to the topic, remember the GamersGate sell of Bethesda pack for $30 or something like that. Even though there were some problems they honored their deal in the end.

It hasn't been out for a whole month yet, and $37.49 is good compared to $60 on consoles

It was $40 on all platforms at Amazon last week. Personally, I preordered the game for $30 at greenmangaming.

I would say most of the time it is cheaper except for Borderlands 2; that game is stuck at 60 for DD. Hell you can buy the console and PC DVD version for 30; that game hardly budges.

Yup, I love PC gaming. Even though I spent almost $1000 on my machine (which isn't even necessary to play the games, just to max them out) I've probably saved close to $300 in purchases in just a few months. If it weren't for PC gaming and sales, there are a lot of games I've played recently that I wouldn't have, because I can only afford so many $60 game purchases.

It's to do with piracy, the lack of royalties and the different markets. They have to make the game prices look as attractive as possible. That and the publisher doesn't have to pay a royalty to release on the platform.

If a publisher thinks they can constantly release games at £40 a pop on the PC, they're on crack. They can get away with that on consoles because of how much control they have over you. And because sales are more guaranteed they keep the prices high, like supply and demand. The same reason they didn't drop the price of the PS3 much, because people are still buying it at that price.

Borderlands 2 was another game I preordered at greenmangaming for $30. I was able to get dishonored, hitman absolution, sleeping dogs company of heroes 2 and x-com: enemy unknown at launch for that price as well. Competition in the digital space is awesome for PC gaming. Shame we'll never see digital competition on consoles.

hell, i bet i have not bought a pc title off anything but steam or good old games or whatever in two years.

Here is a question, do you think if they priced PC games at $60, you guyz would buy knowing fully well there is a torrent of said game out there somewhere. Seriously PC gamers should remove the **** in front of their foreheads. This is the publishers saying ''getting something is better than nothing'' for the most part

Most high profile pc games release at $60 these days. Bioshock Infinite is $60 on steam and its steams best seller right now.

I'll get it from Amazon instead, for £28 (~ $40).  Some of us are on a budget. ;)

my walmart seams to like nintendo and microsoft more ,   - cause every time i go there to buy  a game , i never see the ps3 version of a certain game   they always only have the ds psp 360 and wii version /now wiiu ,   if available ,    gamestop is the only one that i know in my area that carries every game , everyone else i go to does not stock up on alot of stuff

why am i confined to your little time frame? you made a blanket statement that console games are expensive and you are wrong. sure you get great sales every now and then on steam, hell amazing sales but console games get great sales on amazon as well. fact is last time i checked steam max payne 3 is still 40 bucks on pc, borderlands 2 is 60, farcry 3 is 50...all these are cheaper on console on amazon right now...and i can go on.

the_bi99man

You speak as if steam is the only place to buy pc games. Far Cry 3 on amazon is $33 for pc and $46 for 360. Borderlands 2 pc is $29 while 360 version is $36.49. Skyrim is $23 on pc and $40 on 360. Max Payne 3 is the only game thats cheaper on console and its probably because the console versions arent selling well.

It's just ignorance. Explains a lot.

[QUOTE="BPoole96"]

Every game launching at $60, rarely do PSN/XBLA ever reach the low prices that Steam offers, crappy pre order bonuses (for example I preordered BioShock Infinite and got Bioshock 1, XCOM, and Civ 5 as well as $15 back), and it takes years for retail console games to reach prices that Steam/Amazon/GMG have within 4 months of release.
Some more examples I have gotten with PC games:

  • Tomb Raider day one for $18
  • DMC day one for $37
  • Fay Cry 3 in January for $12.50
  • Hitman Absolution in December for $20 (its $10 on Steam right now)
  • Crysis 3 day one for $40
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited in December for $7.50
  • Sleeping Dogs in October for $16

I would have to wait a very long time to get those prices on consoles, and chances are used copies would reach those prices long before new copies did (and buying used games is for plebs)

Cranler

those are great deals and all but that still doesn't deny the fact that there are tons of console games for dirt cheap.

You cant deny the fact that those deals beat any console prices for those games.

no one is denying that....at least at launch.

nah, they sell faster. Big difference. Sales of most console titles almost completely die out after first month, while pc games sell well for years. Which is why Bioshock sold ten times more in first week on 360, but after a year sales on both platforms were pretty even.
