Why do press conferences and stream waste so much budget and time on unnecessary talk and indie games?

So in last few years i have been noticing something. everytime and everytime when some live stream or conference or even big E3 conference happened. 99% of games thier are walking simulators and top down and side scroll indie games that literally no one really care about. even watching those stream and reading youtube live comments it further prove that people become sick of these games shown at show and then we witness some unnecessarily talks and performance of songs here and there literally no one wanted to see.

my point is, Why they organize such big budget event, and then proceed to do nothing at all? in every conferences now days, there are 2 or 3 worthwile games but majority of them are walking sim no one wanted.

today was first day of summer fest where geoff hype up first big AAA announcement that turn out tony hawk remastered.

anyone else noticing same thing? lets discuss.

we are customers, we spent money on games. if game is not good, we have rights to complain.

What does that have to do with them showing off/talking about things that you or others may not be interested in? You do realize that these companies are trying to cater to a variety of consumers that all have different tastes in gaming right?

Indie games are important to showcase. It's hard for devs to showcase their games in crowded market places. The more they present of what you call "filler" (for you like to be wow'd by macho spectacle), the more people are made aware of something they may enjoy.

In fact, I was very interested in "Call of the Sea" and "Scorn" which I never would have note about without the Big Three putting emphasis on indies.

Furthermore, "wasting" money? Tell me, enlightened one, how much did Microsoft's stream cost to produce? How much do the Nintendo Directs cost? I do not know this myself, nor do I pretend to know. I would venture to guess they cost a great deal LESS than E3, which you seem to crave so deeply.

I got a better question, why would anyone waste their time giving casualbandodger4evers threads a serious answer???

Yet in your "top games" is not a single non-mainstream PC game. Even if they are old, they were popular back in their days, hence the shitload of sequels...

go outside and ask any average person what is GTA or COD. they will answer but ask them is Deus Ex and STALKER. they would say "What"??

one of my friend who is not really a gamer but play dota 2 and CSGO all the time only. i told him I played Doom but he didnot even know what it is. majority of people who play those mainstream games doesnot know other titles at all.

For me, it's the sports games. I know why they put them in, but it's, by far, the worst segment. Every year, literally the same shit being shovelled out. And it always has to make part of these conferences. Some who talking into a mic about the new and revolutionary career mode. Get out.

Why would they organize a live event just to show trailers?

I actually wish these events had a little bit more talking and demonstrations. Show loading times, show raytracing and so on.

MS are the worst with just a billion 1 min trailers cobbled together. Gives me a headache. Take your time and do a mix between trailers, gameplay, demos and talking.

When it comes to indies I agree in the sense that there are too many games at these events and I would prefer them spending longer times on fewer games.
