Why do people get so emotional about SW?

Really, i've been coming here for quite some time when i'm bored, and whenever someone creates a topic, there's always at least 20 people that seem to get overwhelmingly offended by it. Then there's the other group that simply try to talk smack about other consoles to make them feel better about their own... how do you let yourself get like this?

I just don't understand it. I read SW topics all the time, and never have I felt the urge to attack someone's integrity, or simply shout out very childish insults. DO people really let games get to their head that much?

i doubt a lot of people on here would even have the guts to do that. why wouold you even beat someone up over a game anyways? All it does is show how huge of a tool you are.
