learn a lesson from someone who knows.
grand prix legends. heralded as one of the most realistic racing simulations of its time.
my father, was the 1990 formula ford champion for auckland in a field of some ~20 drivers who qualified for the championship.
we would set up lans sometimes and race (with others too) every race, if you were winning, you had to watch for my father punting you off. he just didn't care. eventually, others realised too that sabotaging others is a legitamate strategy to win the race in a computer simulation.
it is not about bad driving. it is about the fact that you are in a racing simulation with no consequences.
it is like the difference between playing poker with no money, and playing poker with a $20 buy in.
personally, i would like to see multiplayer racing games do away with collission because of exactly that. in colin mcrae rally one, the multiplayer cars would superimpose over one another without colliding. so all racers are essentially performing a time trial against live 'ghosts'. less fun? maybe. More fair? definitely.
