Why can't we get a tribes game for consoles?

Everyone knows the fps online game that started it all was Tribes.

I know if they would make a next gen version ofit for ps3/xbox360 it would be a competitor with halo3/r.f.o.m.

Seriously how do we get gaming studios that put out such garbage like movie based games but the ones that make good games just seem to disappear.

Becuse if there is PC FPS that's completely not suited for pad it's definitly Tribes. Of course you could redesign it for consoles to make it work nicely, but would it be tRIBES anymore?

Anyway I think I would rather have new Starsiege than new Tribes to be honest. Or my dream action game: a seamless mix of Starsiege and Tribes .. :)

Bingo.

Not to mention... I don't think you could say that tribes started it all...

you could....tribes wasnt the first online game....but it was the first to have the "gladiater" form of combat we have to today...with many different gametypes and so on.

but a game like tribes is just better suited towards the PC.

The way I remember playing it is....

Doom is the 1st game that got me hooked on FPS.

Doom 2 is the 1st game that got me hooked on co-op play with my bros.

Starsiege Tribes v1.0 is the 1st game that made online FPS fun. I love the 32max, jumpsets, vehicles, sensors, deployables, shields, cloaks, large maps indoor outdoor, everything about it. It was so smooth on my medium computer.

Counterstrike is the best close quarter combat FPS.

Actually, I was playing Quake DM, Threewave CTF and the original QuakeWorld Team Fortress well before Tribes. Tribes was actually in the third or forth 'big-wave' of online shooters, several years removed from the first big rush of TCP/IP-capable games. AFAIK, Threewave CTF was the first online FPS to introduce team-vs-team play rather than just DM.
