Interesting you say that, from what they've shown it reminds me specifically of the British series Hammer Horror. Which typically used a gothic formula of monsters and big honkers with some thespian actor elevating it all, namely Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee.

Sure it has multiple influences, happy they moved away from the generic yee-haw Texas Chainsaw Massacre setting to something more outlandish.

Really hope this game is what i always wanted from a RE title. Big semi open world map with a lot of secrets/exploration.

I'll take a look but my interest in the series plummeted when they decided to put the mainline games in first person. Maybe they'll show other RE projects in the works as well. Who knows.

Can we agree it will be better than Resident Evil 3 Remake? The bar is pretty low lol.

@SolidGame_basic: Doubtful. RE3 Remake was kind of short but it was enjoyable. The only part I felt was really missed in it was the church clock tower but it's been forever since I played the PS1 game.

I probably won't even bother with RE8 just as I stopped playing RE7 after a couple hours in VR thankful I borrowed it from a friend instead of wasting money.

There's a place for it. Chronicles of Riddick for example was great. Unreal Tournament series was great. After that, there were so many FPS games flooding the market (PS3/360 era) that I got disgusted with the genre. Ruined me on it. The only reason I play Destiny (basically the only FPS I've played regularly since 2014) is because I play online with my brother and it's co-op focused.

I’m very hyped for the Resident Evil Showcase today. Really looking forward to seeing more of Village and am hoping to see/hear more on the Resident Evil 4 Remake as well plus any other Resident Evil goodies.

RE7 is a top 3 game for me last 'gen'. The new engine makes some great games that run excellent across a lot of different platforms. RE7 reinvented the series and yet kept it true to from.... imo it is the best Resident Evil game to date.

I love the look of Village, the setting looks great and really giving off RE4 vibes. But truthfully, I welcome and will Day 1 any sequel to RE7. It was a masterpiece... and Capcom have been on a roll with their new engine for RE/ MH.

Somewhere in the Resident Evil series there was a shark, and they jumped it, several times.

There is already a leak about something called REVerse that will be included with Village. Seems like a new multiplayer game or sidekick to Village. Also rumors of classic re-releases of the series across the new platforms.

But I would not expect to hear much on RE4. Ive read that this seems unlikely because RE4 will clearly cast a shadow on their new main line game. Publishers wont want that. That being said, I would not be surprised if the showcase ended with a small teaser or egg hinting at 4.

Yeah, I am hyped since I am a sucker for zombie games. However, I don't think I will ever learn to appreciate the 1st person view. Honestly, I still prefer the 3rd person view in the PS1 games. Yes, you couldn't always see far ahead of you, but that just made it even scarier.

@SolidGame_basic: RE3 remake is on sale for 20 USD. Do you guys think it is worth it? I have enjoyed every Resident Evil game I have ever played - and I have played a LOT - but RE3 received such low review scores, besides I wasn't too impressed with the demo. I am reluctant to buy.

@pmanden: For me, in short yes. I enjoyed it and I purchase it day one on PC from Cdkey for about £34.99 with the costume dlc. I don't think you can go wrong at $20 which is about £14. In fact, I enjoyed RES 3 remake more than RES 2 remake.

I preferred the more action RES 3 and the dodge system. I did play the original RES 3 and I wasn't bothered that they cut out the clock tower part. You maybe able to get a cheaper deal on CDkey.

You should get it just so you know how atrocious it is. If you thought the demo was meh, you just play the whole thing and see how arcady that thing felt. RE3R is a 4/10 for me, while RE2R was my goty of that year.

Na, they took it off the plate prior. Seemed to have some quality control, unlike a certain developer.

The engine they are using is very good, I ran RE7 on a shitty laptop at 720p at a very playable frame-rate, really quite impressive.

Looks like best RE game by far.

Exclusive timed demos

Looks like they nailed the atmosphere and art, but the combat still looks weird to me. But I will be downloading the PS5 exclusive demo!

Nope, they killed the series when they went to first person view.

The main game looks top notch. Possibly the best RE game ever made even. The multiplayer looks like... well, i expect under 300 players online in a week from launch.

I really didn't pay attention but looks like something I would get day one anyways.
