Who's hype for the most anticipated fighting game that is Mortal Kombat 11? GS hovering a 8/10

I'll just keep this brief. I love fighting games, been playing Mortal Kombat for decades and with MK11 releasing in just a few more days, I'm super hype more so. So who's excited and what score will it get on GS? The reviews Embargo will be lifted on Monday, April 22.

@goldenelementxl: I can't imagine the Switch version is going to be very good.

Hard to get excited for this--$60, plus $40 for their kombat pack (or whatever the hell they call their season pass), PLUS probably another $40 for the second pass that has fighterswhich the first pass doesn't cover. I think I'm gonna give this a pass.

I was on the fence for a long time. Had it in my Steam wishlist without knowing why; played little of MK9, didn't buy MKX.

Then I saw D'Vorah's fatality.

Yup, now I remember why I put it on my wishlist. Hell yes I'm buying this game... ...in a sale.

I think it will be a solid 8/10.

well, i know im going to get destroyed so i am not that hyped. like street fighter 2 back in the 90s was great. i got destroyed by good players but i beat a lot of shitty ones too.

however starting with street fighter 3/4/5 the learning curve is too high imo. like it takes more skill to be decent at the game. in sf2 i could be decent and im a noob. in sf3/4/5 you have to be really good to even be decent at the game.

same thing happened to mortal kombat. mk1/2/3 were playable by noobs and be decent. but mk9 & X the learning curve went up considerably imo. i blame esports. the games are made with esports in mind imo.

I mean this is cool for people with fighting game skills. but for people like myself. it means less hype and less fun.

sakurai from smash bros always keeps the casual in mind and i think thats why smash sells so well. anyone can be decent at it. thats why smash is my current fav fighting game.

@KBFloYd: Most fighting games have gotten easier, or at least more noob friendly. SF3 I'd agree with took way more skill, but all the other ones you mentioned nope.

I wish they would bring back the chess mini game.

I’m going to wait for the ultimate edition. Last time, I bought Injustice 2 plus season pass at launch and they ended up releasing the Legendary edition just 6 months later. I like their games but not their business practices. The game looks great, though.

@vfighter: There is tons of direct feed and off screen footage over st ResetEra. The Switch version looks surprisingly good. Being able to play MK11 anywhere is well worth the money on the double dip

Reading forums it seems SP is apparently a massive grind fest. SFV had this as well, it wasn't fun, it was purposefully designed to frustrate and feel like a losing battle. Mobile model, except you're paying £50 upfront. They also change the grind rate on a whim months or years later.

I'll pick it up, mainly because I just want something to play online but expectations aren't high, none of Netherrealms games are as good as their competitors imo. Even Killer Instinct was better.

Ed Boon always get's carried away with his DLC and he's been shitting his fans because he won't bring back Mileena but then again, I hardly care about Mileena anyways.

As for extra $40 Kombat pack, yeah not gonna give Ed Boon my extra money and $60 is all he's ever gonna get from me.

@goldenelementxl: Well worth the money, nah. I'm not a mobile gamer so having an inferior version isnt my cup of tea.

Mileenas design is sort of genius imo. sexualized, but a face that looks like a monster drawing by a 12 year old. It's design messes with the players winky and sort of personifies what makes Mortal Kombat stand out, it's bizarre horror eccentricities.

Netherrealm toned down the monster aspect in X, so she looks like just another generic exotic character.

A lot of these fatalities have been great so far. Only one I don’t like is Geras it’s just boring. It’s gross but just so boring and stupid. I watch few MK11 fatalities because I didn't want to spoiled myself but when you mention D'Vorah, I had to see what's so bad and after watching her fatality.....not bad. D'Vorah went "Alien" mode with steroids.

Wait for Komplete Edition is recommended.

Mortal Kombat isn’t at the top of my favourite fighting games list but I am looking forward to getting Mortal Kombat 11 as I did enjoy 9 and 10 and this one is looking really good as well. I’ll be getting the Xbox One version and am somewhat tempted to double dip and get the Switch version as well for that portability factor but I probably won’t. I think it’ll get a 9/10 here.

MK was never my cup of tea nor is it on the same level as SF or KOF!!!

All it ever got was its fatalities and it's crappy as hell imho.

Will eventually grab it if it got better things than fatalities to offer.

I think I'm gonna go with 8/10 or 9/10. The visuals seems to be a massive improvement since mk 10.

No hype really, it looks like it's making smart decisions for the MK neutral and defensive play, but its a fighting game whose biggest appeal is people who have scrubby mentality when it comes to fighting games. The animations look garbage as ever, on the flip side it has wave dashing.

Now Samurai Spirits by based as **** SNK, that looks divine.

I'm actually hyped. I felt MK9's story was interesting. MKX was kind of boring, but I'm looking forward to this one aka MK11 as it seems more high stakes than last game. Also interested in the ending that has got everyone salty lol. Day one purchase on my Xbox One X!

I just love it when Ed Boon trolls his own fans over how salty & butthurt because their waifu Mileena won't be in this game. How pathetic

Well it looks like GameSpot is leaning towards an 8/10 which is definitely still a great score.

@evil_loli: I don't really care about Mileena like that, I don't think that Ed Boon would take it that far unless Mileena was indeed in the game, as the leaks initially suggest it. He's got some trolling skills out there, but still far from Harada's level.

8/10 is a fair score but I went with a 9 though. Either way, I'm still hype!!!

Meh, I'll wait the Komplete Edition in a couple years.

Now if Capcom came out with a new Rival Schools or Darkstalkers I might be hyped for a fighting game.

Just passing on the updates. Reviews have already been out and from my experience with MK11, the grinding is a fucking mess. It's all just a test by NRS. They put these systems in to slowly reduce the grind about 10-20% and see where the break even point is. Then when MK12 comes out, it'll move the goal posts forward again. Keeping these terrible systems in, and pushing them further. Completely unacceptable! NRS was clearly testing the waters and now taking it back after the backlash. Shady company and are pretty damn close to being on par with EA. This would be okay if the game was Free-to-Play & Killer Instinct at least did it right the first time.

As for the core fighting game, it's what you expect from NRS mechanic and so far, I totally having fun with MK11, it's the whole Microtransaction that's the problem. Should have been all cosmetics. MK11 is a 8/11 for me.
