In less than two months that man who made random shit on an island will release Star Wars: An Forces Awakens, completly obliterating the expanded universe.

Like someone who doesn't like sand, distain is displayed towards EA, a compan that force grips franchises and developers until they lay dead and limp.

Of the current catalog of Publishers/Developers whom is most worthy to give the IP justice?

That's tough. I'd trust any franchise with Naughty Dog but outside from that... bioware. KOTOR was good and I'd love to see another rpg in the same style as Mass Effect starring a bounty hunter.

*still EA, I'm aware of that

I don't know. It shouldn't be EA though.

Best Star Wars games were on Super Nintendo. So whoever made those.

Nintendo would be swell too, they did a great job with the Rogue Squadron games. But still, rather LucasArts than, well, anybody.

Film wise, Lucas made a clusterduck of episodes 1 to 3, he didn't even stick to his own canon and filled them so full of inconsistences and plot holes to be beyond a joke. Oddly take ep 1 - 3 as a separate entity and they're pretty good (minus the ducky thing and the whinging Jedi apprentice). So far the cartoon series' that Disney have done have been pretty good (Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels) so I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen the new film.

Game wise, Disney is probably the worst thing that could happen to the I.P.

Nintendo only published Shadows of the Empire (64 version), Episode I Racer (64 version) and Rogue Squadron I (64 version, but only in Europe, Lucasarts did everywhere else), but all three games ended up on PC (although PC missed Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike).

Lol no... You guys are literally basing your entire view point off their performance between 95 and early 2000's, completely forgetting how much they blew after that.

Your forgetting the absolute vomit they published during that time on top of that incredibly average series.. Let's face it, LucasArts was a shell of it's former self with the best games being published/developed by them 5 to 15 years before they closed.. Don't even get me started by the hilarious "hype" for the Starwars 1313 game which basically was every cover based, qte filled, third person game on the market place with a Star Wars coat of paint.. It's like people are completely fine with mediocrity as long as it has Star Wars in the name.

Battlefront 2 was 2005, Rogue Squadron 3 was 2005 as well, I think. The Force Unleashed was 2007 or 2008? Are you saying they had three years of down time? What is this vomit they had that you are talking about?

Rogue Squadron 3 came out in 2003.. And you forgot The Old Republic MMO.. Force Unleashed I stated was largely average, with the second one doing even worse.. And what? LucasArts closed in 2013.. That fits within my window of 5 to 15 years.. You must have forgotten the numerous shovelware Starwars games that came out in that time.. Like the Star Wars Kinect game..

Disney owns the rights to Star Wars and Disney made a deal with EA so EA are now making Star Wars games but however, Bioware still can make Star Wars games since they still have the rights to The Old Republic MMO game. Also LucasArts made some of the best star Wars games back in the 90's and up to 2005. But after 2005, they hit rock bottom and they were dead weight and Disney did the right thing, shut that horrible Co. down. They even sabotage Battlefront 3 and people wanna defend LucasArts, really? Come on now.

Exactly.. LucasArts were in their golden years between the mid 90s to around 2005.. Outside of The Old Republic and a average beat em up game (Force Unleashed) Star Wars hasn't been the forefront of anything any more when it comes to game hype.. Also Bioware is owned by EA, just a heads up..

One thing I really hope to see is if Disney cuts a deal with Tell Tale games and creates a Star Wars game.

I wanted to see a KOTOR 3 by CD Projekt RED. They can put Cyberpunk 2077 on hold.

I think Battlefronts is going to fail critically but still do decent commercially, though I feel EA is still an ideal rights holder, I blame the biggest loudmouth critics for preventing this game from being the game it should be. Probably people saying DICE would just make a Battlefield game with a Star Wars skin was the kind of shallow kind of game we didn't need.... no, actually, that's exactly the game we needed. In fact, even before the game was announced as going to EA/DICE I've been as vocal as such that it primarily needs to be sold "Battlefield: Star Wars Battlefronts", to sell on the name of both franchises. I mean they're already pretty much the same anyways so why not bring the best features of both into one game. Hope they learn from this and make a better sequel while they have the license.

It should be an open license to anyone who wants to use it.

Yea I'd love to see a game like TLoU set in the Star Wars universe. Following someone through Jedi training, starship battles, would be epic with ND's presentation.

I second whoever said CDPR also.

Yes !

Let anyone pitch a game project, and go with the ones that seem best.

And with best I mean, the one that will most likely turn into a really fun game, not the one that'll be the most profitable.

Unfortunately, that is not a scenario that will ever happen.
