Microsoft shouldn't be on the list because to have movie games, you first must to have the actual games.
Right.
No thank you. Every since I inquired about this and got no straight, non-arbitrary answer about definition and dividing line, I have adopted the policy of automatically not taking seriously every instance someone unironically uses the term "movie game."
And the Oscar goes to........Sony, they win it every year, cows are not smart enough to wait a week until someone puts the "game" on YouTube to view it for free 🤣🤣🤣
Gotta be salty for Sony to invest hundreds of millions with less return with their movie games than mobile games that look so cheap, probably has much less production values but rakes in insane amounts.
At least MS has EVERYTHING else as a mega software and hardware company, even IF it's a distant second with the Xbox platform in market performance.
I accidentally voted for Rockstar didn't even see Sony on there my bad guys.
Notice Nintendo isn't on the list. They make real games.
@i_p_daily: Your definition of what a movie game is is severely incorrect. You use the fabricated definition from system wars as a way to slander Playstation exclusives and those that enjoy them; using it to delegitimize that narrative based games are in fact games.
Those that continue to use the system wars definition of "movie game" are not just factually incorrect, it shows they are also either merely a troll who can then not admit to enjoying any narrative based game due to losing any semblance of credibility, they are horribly ignorant in their belief that it's an accurate definition of narrative based games, or a mix of the two.
So which are you I_P?
I had a feeling this guy sounded like IP. So he made a thread with his alt then used his main to comment. That's very sad
Indeed. For someone who claims to live rent free in our heads he sure doesn't have the guts to post a thread like this on his main. What a coward.
Go play fortnite or any mindless game with no story if you don’t care about the story
Agreed. Games that needs your inputs at all times, lets you play them the way you want to, and awards your actual skills is just mindless. Just sit and stare at a digital B-movie is where it's at.
Sony/ND or Crystal Dynamics. Not that I dislike the games, but more that they typically follow the "movie game" formula.
Is Sony's Spiderman a game that sold 20+ million on 1 platform really a "movie game though"? It seems like insomniac styled Sunset Overdrive 3rd person beatem up comic book game with a few cutscenes here and there.
A movie game is like Detroit become Human...Spiderman is not even close to that as a movie game lund
Well just like how people define “movie games” I’m not sure how we’re defining who’s “king” here as well. Are we talking who makes the most or who makes your favourite?
Anyway I’m just going to go with my favourite here and vote Hideo Kojima. I love the Metal Gear Solid games and people seem to call them “movie games”, with the exception of MGS5 I guess, so he’ll get my vote as “Other”.

Isn't Metal Gear Solid 5 the opposite of a movie game though. It was a giant open world playground sandbox I played the demo "ground zero" on ps4 it had like 1 opening cut scene and was 99% gameplay at a snow base. How is that a movie game basically? Metal Gear solid 4 that is a movie game though Kojima switched it up and went more gameplay on 5.
As far as IPs taken from a movie, probably go with KOTOR 2.
Isn't doesn't just emulate the franchise beats, like most Starwar titles, or most games using a license, it significantly adds to it with a new take exclusive the gaming medium.
@ProtossRushX: Should have specified the MGS games with the exception of MGS5 I guess.
Yeah but we were talking about the current king of movie games not old ps1/2/3 games. MGS5 is the polar opposite of a movie game except the opening when your crawling on the hospital.
@ProtossRushX: Oh Jesus. 😅
Well I guess I take “currently” as meaning someone or some developer who is still active and who has made some of my favourite “movie games”. If you want to take as something else then go right ahead. I’m just going to stick with my answer. 🤷♂️
Edit: Also I just think that he is someone who has yet to be surpassed as the “king” of “movie games” regardless of if the latest MGS game was one or not. So in that aspect he is still currently the “king” to me.

So here is all the cutscenes in UC4, there is over 7hrs of it, and that's longer than all the "movie games" you claim that are on the Mega CD, hell Night Trap is around an hour.
Just face facts, Uncharted and most of Sony's games are movie games best played on YouTube.
Nearly 8hrs of this shit. Movie game confirmed.
@i_p_daily: i kinda like you man, you're a funny guy. Are you even a gamer?
Of course, i play actual games on Xbox, whereas you watch them on PS.
You should get an Xbox and play games man, who knows you might enjoy playing them instead of watching them.
@Litchie: sure candy crush takes a lot of skills you know to pay for $1 for the extra move please what do you consider a b-movie game?
Please use periods, comas and capital letters. It makes text easier to read.
Why mention Candy Crush? I said skills.
Anyway, Uncharted would be a pretty good example. The series is filled with cutscenes with a derivative and cliché story, coupled with gameplay simple enough for monkies.
@Litchie: So make every game like Metal Gear Solid 5? No thanks. Will continue to appreciate a game that gives a shit about presentation and story telling. Open ended gameplay isn't for everyone. Gaming would suck if all games were like that.
@Litchie: MGS 4 has the longest cutscenes they can be up to an hour long or in some cases longer. Uncharted games cutscenes are up to 1-3 hours long for the whole game. Most games have about 1-3 hours long cutscenes and least they are not mindless games like fortnite and other free to play shooters. Just think about game is free and the mindless gamer that play them make the companies billions every year for buying loot boxes and other crap those gamers are so mindless that governments wants to put laws against loot boxes i mean really how stupid are they?
RDR2 is best movie game because it done everything apart from gameplay good. and other movie games did everything bad.
