Is this based on rumors? Why believe it unless it has been officially been confirmed by Microsoft and Nintendo?
Leaks and rumors are a part of the Smash community's DNA. Did you know? Ridley, King K. Rool, Simon Belmont, Ken, Isabelle and Incineroar were all leaked and known to be in the roster before any of them were even announced. While sure, rumors can ultimately be false, with Smash Bros. Ultimate it's been proven many rumors end up true too.
There's everything from character leaks, to the names of game modes such as Spirits Mode that was leaked and known for months before they were even announced.
With Microsoft characters in a Smash Bros. game, there's lots of evidence that show a good chance and likeliness that a Microsoft representation in the game can just about happen. It's no secret Microsoft and Nintendo have playing lots of footsie lately. It all really began with crossplay and then all these announcements of bringing Xbox Live to the Switch. The Xbox branch has actively praised Smash Bros. Ultimate over other Nintendo games numerous times, and the real golden egg in the room is the fact Phil Spencer has expressed numerous times now how much he loves the idea of putting Banjo-Kazooie in the game.
So with Banjo-Kazooie, there's also a lot of evidence that a representation might go to Steve from Minecraft. So at the end of the day you might think rumors are BS, but keep in mind many have ended up true and it's also always been a part of the DNA of the Smash community. It suffices to say this leak and speculation culture is largely responsible for what ends up hyping these games into the popularity they have.
The only thing that's working against a Microsoft rep, is no one seems to have been able to leak the confirmed DLC fighters so far. Absolutely nobody saw Piranha Plant or Joker coming upon their announcements. Could it be possible much of the leaks that ended up being true are exclusively limited to the base game and not the DLC? Who knows, we shall see what announcements we'll get next. If Erdrick From Dragon Quest ends up being announced as a DLC fighter, we might be on the right track as far as the DLC leak trajectory goes.
