Y'all like reboots?

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan, so SH is an obvious choice for me for sweet next gen rebootage (yes, that's a word: starting now). That being said, I trust Konami about as much as I trust the nightly news. Still, if they manage to get the original Team Silent together, it might work. And/or sell the franchise to somebody (Sony) that knows how to handle beloved franchises with care.

Another choice is the Legacy of Kain series. I played Soul Reaver ages ago. Never finished it, but loved what I played.

Oh, and Alpha Protocol. That game was clean, and more sophisticated than most in its genre. Just needed some better controls/visuals/etc.

And here's a ring of fire eclipse, to make you feel better in these uncertain times.

Dino Crisis

  • Keep the suspense of the first.
  • Keep the action of the second.
  • Ignore the third.
  • Use the RE engine
  • Keep 3rd person
  • Use same controls as RE2/3 remakes
  • Keep Regina and Dylan
  • Add online story co-op
  • Add arena co-op mode
  • Flesh out the story and/or consider combining the first two games. Looking for a 15-20 hour experience.

@subspecies_ii: Yeah, I've been hoping for a reboot since PS4 launched. Sadly hasn't happened yet but seeing Capcom remake RE2 and 3 recently gives me an infinitesimal sliver of hope.

Hell, I would have taken a Dino Crisis One remake let alone a full reboot. I hope Capcom still considers it in the future.

Don't like reboots.

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan as well, but I think the games are damn near perfect the way they are. All I ask is digital releases so future generations can play them without paying hundreds of dollars for used copies. Considering Konami doesn't even have the source codes for these games, that seems unlikely

Trying to think of remakes I've liked over the original product, and it's basically Resident Evil Remake.

Including ones people consider great, Black Mesa, Resident Evil 2 etc.. tend to have lots of shit I don't like, even if they are still solid games.

In general, rather have a remaster of a good old game (GOG if you will) with updated functionality like online and polished up visuals with fixes whenever possible to the original games issues than a fully fledged reimagining.

Like, been playing Rogue Spear, fucking great game. My assholes is clamping up even at the thought of Ubisoft "reimagining" it.

Far better to get a R6/RS pack with updates and modernized online functionality.

Ah man. Different strokes and all, but I love those games, would hate to see what modern SE would do to them.

I'd rather just leave them be.

I hear you. And I'm actually in the same boat, which is why I specified reboot over remake. If the original Team Silent can come together and create a new vision, I'm down for that. Basically, don't touch the original games (which are untouchable anyway), and embrace a new vision for SH.

@rzxv04: Parasite Eve is a good call. Although I think I'd rather just have a AAA sequel, and remasters of the old games.

Honestly, not so much I want it, I don't know how EA can make it through next few years without resorting to Mass Effect and Dead Space remaster collections. I mean, Madden managed to get reviewed worse than last one, EA has Respawn making a MoH VR game, they have nothing left but Squadrons, and I bet it won't be enough to save them.

Dragon Age won't save them either, last one was pure trash but somehow managed to get everyone to praise it, but it did have benefit of a slow release window without much competition. They won't have the same benefit this time, and Bioware still caries the shame of Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda, and EA itself is a name so toxic I would not be surprised we eventually see them rename the company all together, but it also wouldn't surprise me if it worked either (worked for Comcast rebranding to Xfinity but still offering shitty overpriced service).

Anyone remember Full Auto? It was basically if Twisted Metal was a racing game. How do you screw that up? Well, by releasing it during the beta testing stage. Jank controls, wonkey physics, weird lighting, muddy textures, all at a sand papery smooth 17fps.

Despite all this, there was some fun to be had. The concept was so solid that it's many flaws didn't make it unplayable. It was exactly the type of game that could achieve greatness if they ironed out the kinks in a sequel. Unfortunately, they made a sequel that fixed nothing.

So I nominate Full Auto for a reboot. Hell, don't even need to go that far, a remaster. Just clean up the framerate and rework the driving model, and this would feel like a whole new game.

If Ubi reboots Splinter Cell in the next few years, Sam will have three daughters instead of one, and one of them is a lesbian.
