Which racing game had the best sound track, in your opinion?

I think the answer EASILY... and I mean EASILY will be Need for Speed Underground 2 and Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.

I will be shocked to see the answer deviate to other options..

What do y'all think?

Forza Horizon 1. I often fire it up just to listen to Horizon Pulse!

For menu soundtracks, it's either Forza Motorsport 3 or Gran Turismo 5.

For racing, I'd say Motorhead by DICE.

Crazy Taxi

The soundtrack just fit that game so perfectly. So much so that when they ported it to Xbox 360 and PS3 with a new soundtrack, it felt like the game lost it's soul.

I really miss being able to rip tracks from my music cds and being able to play them while racing around the tracks in the Forza Motorsport games on the 360. Anyways I always enjoyed some of the tunes in the Ridge Racer games.

Can't stick to one since I like too many OST's:

  1. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (I already have TSR's on repeat)
  2. F-Zero GX
  3. Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5 & 6
  4. Crazy Taxi
  5. Cyber Speedway
  6. DiRT 2
  7. Tokyo Xtreme Racer
  8. Ridge Racer PSP
  9. Out Run
  10. Super Hang-On

Wipeout XL on PS1, or Road Rash on Sega CD, which had actual audio tracks play in-game, PC and 3DO versions had same soundtrack for menus and animations but shitty midi-tracks for in-game music.

F-Zero GX is the only one that comes to my mind.

I actually prefer Midnight Club LA and 2 to 3. LA has a some good stuff accross a wide variety of genres, 2 has some really nice trance. 3 isn't bad though

Right? It's weird, but true. I've even heard this from people who hate Offspring.

I know it's cheesy, but I prefer the soundtrack in F-Zero X.

My pick though, is the original NfS Most Wanted. The licensed music is fine, but I really love the songs recorded for police chases.

I usually turn the music off 99% of the time.

The one exception would be Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast) that soundtrack was awesome.

I wasn't quite expecting this thread to be dominated by Sega.

They make jamming songs. Jet Set Radio also has a great OST.

Personally I really enjoyed the original scores of Forza Motorsport 6 & 7, but I rarely listen to them while racing, mostly in the menus or outside the game.

Yep. I definitely would not consider myself to be a fan of Offspring and would never listen to their music at any other time, but there was simply no better choice than them for this soundtrack.
