Poll Which is the worst PC port? (43 votes)
I'm going to have to go with DS1. Locked resolution and frame rates, crap keyboard support, fucked up mouse acceleration, few options, etc.

Considering Watchdogs was shown 2 years before release running smoothly with better visuals than the final version, AND on pc...........Watchdogs.
Whats ironic is, even as terrible ports, nearly all of these are still better than the console counter-parts.

Yup, especially GTA IV, the PC version should have a 99/100 on MC instead of an 91.
Lol...you guys are all spoiled. GTA IV? Dark Souls? Those are supposed to count as bad port?
Try Phoenix Wright. Released only in Japan. When you installed the game and double clicked the icon what launched was actually a damn GBA emulator that then loaded GBA rom. Yes, Capcom was that lazy :D

Just wow, winner, winner chicken dinner.

You probably came in late for GTA IV. From looking around there was some pretty bad Optimization issues going with that game.
Dark Souls had GFWL and had pitiful PC options.
I also had no idea that there was a PC version of the Ace Attorney Series.

Higher standards.
While GTA IV was better than console versions (higher fps/gfx/load times)...it was NOT up to par w/ other PC release performance.
GTA4 gets my vote that game wiped the floor with my HD 4890 and it looked rubbish while doing so.
Dark Souls comes close but the whole resolution thing was fixed day 1 and I used a controller for that game so I really had no issues unlike GTA4 which till this day is still a bastard to run.
Ill go with Watch_Dogs out of those, I almost voted for Dark Souls but I cut them some slack for it being their first PC game. GTAIV wasnt as bad as people make it out to be. The game ran really well on lower settings while looking and performing better than any console version.
Didnt the original RE4 port launch without mouse controls?
Yup. Horrible port. Then they released it again, and charged money for it once more.
"This time it works :D"
>.>
If you voted Dark Souls, you should have voted Final Fantasy XIII, because it's lazier. No settings whatsoever, locked at 720p, you quit the game by pressing "escape."
Durante "fixed" both games though.

The original never had mouse controls. Also, it launched in Asia and Europe without shaders, and if I'm not mistaken even the late American release still had broken lighting. All were patched at a later date.
Final Fantasy games are also very bare bone ports. The same with Metal Gear Solid and those other Capcom ports of that time, DMC3 and Onimusha 3.

Yeah, i was unsure about the 2, but i hear you can get 60fps on FF. Probably issues on that one, considering no resolution options.
Can't speak for the RE4, because back then i was still on consoles.
There are some games on the list that are just simply poorly optimized, or without additional features. Those aren't too awful in the grand scheme of things. You just have to settle with console settings.
Games like RE4 released on the PC without proper controls. That's far worse than not having graphics settings. Though Capcom has since re-released RE4 on PC, and made it all nice and better.
What's wrong with the Sleeping Dogs Def. Edition? The normal edition was one of the best optimized open world PC games to ever come out.
Anyone who says gta4 doest know what a really bad port is. Re4, saints row 2, the game adrian spoke of are far worse. To say the evol within or watchdogs is silly
GTA4 is getting way too much hate here imho.
yea it was bloated with a bunch of extra apps and optimisation could probably have been better.
but R*, to their credit, did push the boat out a good bit for the PC version. i think some may be of the impression that the 360 and PS3 were playing it at near max settings and their PCs couldnt match it.
but the console version of GTA4 didnt even come close to the PC version maxed out. R* themsevles released a document explaining the settings the console version was running at. in sone areas like detail distance the console version was only at 10 or 20 out of 100.
i would love to see more developers push the boat out for the PC version (even if it absolutely destroys hardware currently on the market). i hope R* take the extra time to just go nuts with the PC version of GTA5. get the PS4 and X1 versions done then see how far they can push the engine on even more powerful hardware.
its cool to see and itll teach R* a thing or 2 at the same time that they can take into GTA6.
DS1 is definitely the worst port if we exclude the community fix that came out on day one with 1080p+ and then gave us 60fps shortly after.
ADD: Resident Evil 4 is also an atrocious port for lacking basic mouse support (!!!), but that too was fixed very quickly. I think a port on PC can only truly be terrible if the devs intentionally implement ways to prevent modding.
i've not played FF13 on pc, but i heard you can't even change the resolution to fit your pcs native resolution. right there is a broken port. Ancient pc games like GTA 3 from the early 2000s let you change the resolution to anything you want, even works at 1080p, 1440p and probably even higher.

Nah, most old games don't let you set to 16:9 resolutions.

Exactly. Whats wrong with sleeping dogs ? I was actually amazed how good the game turned out on pc. Not only it was well optimized but there were quite a few options on pc and M+KB worked great on that game ( even in driving )
The GTA IV port was absolutely atrocious. What was wrong with Need for speed?
It was capped at 30fps, but what was worse is that the speed of the game was linked to the frame rate. So if you forced 60fps the game would run twice as fast, it was like racing for extreme ADHD people.
Eventually someone figured out how to make the game run normally at 60fps but it was optimized like shit so even powerful pc's couldn't properly maintain 60fps and when it dropped to like 40 or 50 the game would run in slow motion.
I voted for NFS Rivals.
