Metro Exodus had a strong chance to reach for the sky akin to how CD Projekt went from a relatively obscure presence to a extraordinarily powerful presence with one game. Unfortunately, it failed hard because of the vitriol caused by its sudden switch to Epic Game Store, that really hurt its potential word-of-mouth spread.
And it's not a particularly fantastic video game, there's an abundance of voice acting that is absolutely shit as a whole, they should have cut back on VA by a lot if they couldn't hire good actors because it really affects the experience at face value. The design of the environment is unnecessarily cluttered with detail that makes it a bit of a chore to look at; it basically feels like a crowded theme park that goes over its way to imitate the real thing.
There's a little bit of S.T.A.L.K.E.R in there, but not even close.
As for Anthem, how anyone expected anything out of Bioware after their previous failures is on them. For the rest of the world, we already knew Anthem was going to be a piece of shit - and it really doesn't matter how much you think they'll improve on it (don't get your hopes up, it's EA). Game's done, dead. Remember No Man's Sky? Literally buried under fifty tons of sand, no one even wants to remember that game because of its catastrophic initial release, despite the fact that these days it's a completely different game.
