Poll Which game stole the show at E3 this year? (124 votes)
Dam that's a nice list of games.
For me it's Cyberpunk 2077. Even though I was not a big TW3 fan I think this game looks incredible.

Cyberpunk with a NON-GAMEPLAY trailer and FAKE 3rd person representation of their game should be disqualified from the listing.
Project CD Red gave a completely phony representation of their game but everyone has seemed to give them a pass for some reason. If this were Sony we wouldn't hear the end about "movie, FAKE, no gameplay, phony" from SW guys who are praising the showing now.
ON TOPIC:
I don't know about stealing the show but the top 5 game showings IMO were...
DMCV (made more "show stopping" by debuting at MS's show)
TLOU 2 (other devs tried to call it fake because of how good gameplay looked)
Halo Infinite (looks like they're trying to re-create Halo CE in an open world?)
Sekiro (another "show stopping" reveal by debuting at MS's show)
Forza Horizon 4 (most impressive looking racer this gen PG are a talented studio)

Cyberpunk gameplay was show behind closed door and by all accounts is everything bit as good as the trailer looks. But fair point I guess.
What would be even more interesting poll would be to another one without all the vaporware included.

Which games are vaporware?
Cyberpunk was not shown anything but winning most awards because CDPR just another rockstar.
anyways best game of the show is Metro Exodus. its everything i wanted from STALKER sequel. it looks like STALKER with heavy story driven, Crysis like weapon customization plus Graphics that put to limit.
DOOM Eternal short teaser is better than anything announced this year and they are debuting gameplay at quackcon.
RAGE 2 looks Excellent. its like If DOOM set in wasteland with car combat.
Dying light 2 is biggest surprise to me as i didnot liked original but this looks great.
Resident evil 2 also looking good.
Hitman 2 looks Excellent as usual.
Just cause 4 looks pretty fun i guess too. if nothing special.

What dose a "behind closed door" showing have to do with what WE are judging here?
Also Cyberpunk is confirmed 1st peson game correct?
Just making sure I'm not loosing it *watches trailer again*
Nope, I stand by my original post 100%.

Which games are vaporware?
Quite a few....
vapourwareˈveɪpəwɛː/
noun - vaporware
1. software or hardware that has been advertised but is not yet available to buy, either because it is only a concept or because it is still being written or designed.

We're not really judging anything here and to be honest I didn't really expect anyone to take it so seriously. I was just asking which game people thought had the best showing at E3.
For me, what impressed me the most was The Last of Us 2, more so considering it is a PS4 game and even if it was shown running on PS4 Pro, it is still impressive.
Naughty Dog once again shows what incredible polish in every detail of a game can bring to the overall product.
But what I am most hyped is Dying Light 2, because I really liked the first,
Metro Exodus because I also liked both of them before and this one looks gorgeous.
Doom Eternal because I am a PC gamer since the first Doom

On Cyberpunk, FACTS!
Dying light 2 did look really good
and Just Caause 4 is everything Crackdown 3 was promised to be but won't come close to achieving.
@undefined: I'd say tlou2, simply because people were talking about "that kiss", the brutality and the "fake" gameplay.
Fh4 looks incredible, and the new engine for Halo peaked my interest.
Damn fine list of games this e3.

Can't wait to see what Playground Games do with their open world RPG, We know they can build fantastic looking worlds we just need to see how they do on the narrative end of the spectrum.
They didn't talk about Fable (like Sony didn't talk about Horizon 2) but we know it's a game they're going to be releasing on Xbox 2. I expect great things from them
cyberpunk. its the game of the show. its going to sweep up all of the E3 awards this year basically. sure there was no gameplay trailer. but the behind closed doors footage seems to have those who saw it genuinely excited.
at the end of the day this is E3. its about the hype, bombs and megatons. CDPR showed an E3 winning trailer and have built the most hype. mission accomplished. you dont need to show gameplay to win E3. you just need to build hype. like the original twilight princess trailer, or the halo 3 trailer, or the FF7 remake trailer. gameplay trailers is just one of the ways winning E3 is done but its not the only way.
on a side note: man how times have changed. i remember CDPR having a small booth at E3 showing a little game called the witcher (the first one) and was getting half page previews noting an interesting take on choice/consequences but not much else. now look at em. E3 winning powerhouse of a developer. sure their games are not perfect but they are brilliant imho. a release from CDPR is always a highlight.
MY TOP candidates
From those i think the Resident evil 2 had most impact on me, im all over this game, but because nostalgia might take a big role to that ill give first place to SEKIRO to be 100% fair.
@tgob89: You bag on Cyberpunk for not showing gameplay but then list a few games that did the same thing in your top 5. You should probably come up with a consistent stance first and then get back to us...

I guess you're talking about Halo?
I know that seems like a contradiction but I feel it's justified. Halo has a damn near 20 year history in the gaming industry, It's STILL MS's biggest franchise and EVERYONE knows it's a FPS even if MS had only dropped a logo with Halo on the screen we'd have an idea of what we were getting.
What the Halo Trailer showed is that it's likely going for a more campaign focused, open world setting which resembles Halo CE and have Master Chief in the game, that in itself is a reason to get excited from the previous Halo titles.
Cyberpunk however is a NEW IP! Their last game was a 3rd person Action RPG. Their trailer, other than the setting, was totally disingenuous and we wouldn't even know what to expect from the game if not for the media release that it's a First Person Shooter RPG. No one has any idea what this game will actually look like given the false representation of their trailer.
FYI:
That's not "a few" games, that's 1.
That last of us gameplay and animation was so smooth and refined that it almost makes a person want to buy a PS4 just to play it.
@tgob89: Um, TLOU2 might be the only game that showed gameplay from your list. (And that’s being debated) Microsoft, on Giant Bombs after hours show said FH4 wasn’t actual gameplay because they did things with the camera to make the footage more entertaining for the show. And DMC wasn’t gameplay, come on man...
You can’t knock a game for showing cinematic footage and then list off games that weren’t actual gameplay.
I'd go with Cyberpunk.
BUT, if we're talking about stealing A show, Super Smash Bros. That ran way too long during the Direct. I like Smash, but I didn't need 15-20min of it.

Could not agree more with your list! Some of those I did not even realize were shown!
Cyberpunk, despite the obvious influences, seems to be the only really original game shown, as most things are either continuations or spinoffs of a publishers previous game. I cannot wait for Cyberpunk to be released. Can. Not. WAIT!
Likewise, with the excellence that was DOOM (2016), you really can't get another DOOM game into my hands soon enough.
Rage 2 looks like another winner, and the original Rage was an excellent, underappreciated game. The fact it is going for a singleplayer, narrative-driven experience excites me even more!
Had no idea they were working on Dying Light 2, but the original was great. Taking place in what seems to look like an East European type of setting has me stoked as I did not like the modern+slum aesthetic of the original all that much (not that it was bad, it just did not seem all that inspired).
Hitman has [almost] always been great, I just hope they can beat Blood Money in terms of awesomeness.
And, of course, Just Cause 4 looks to be awesome, over-the-top fun. I enjoyed every single JC game, I am sure I will enjoy JC 4
Super Mario Party for me. I've been waiting many years for a new Mario Party game that returns to the classic board gameplay and gets rid of that damn stupid car that ruined the series for the past two generations.
Cyberpunk, but Ghost of T and TLOU2 were great too.
But the real answer is Maneater
Maneater looks fun! But I'm looking forward to Skyrim Very Special Edition
Ghost of Tsushima looks great but it was the RE2 Remake reveal that saved E3 for me. While both games had been previously revealed as being at least in the works, I felt RE2 Remake was borderline vaporware as we had seen absolutely nothing about it.
It looks like it's really delivering.
Cyberpunk did not steal the show... Objectively speaking it was a let down. They showed us 1 teaser trailer many years after the last teaser trailer. No gameplay, no scope of what systems are at play.... C'mon guys you cannot possibly say with a straight face that what was shown of cyberpunk "stole" the show... That's a laughable notion...
RE2 remake and ghosts however? THAT is how to steal a show.... Gameplay driven demos out class teaser trailers hand over fist.

There is nothing orginal about cyberpunk. it was done 20 years ago and better. and 8 years ago with human revolution too.
this is just mix of deus ex but with witcher 3 or GTA elements involving open world and driving segments.
its not original.
even Rage 2 is more original than Cyberpunk 2077.
Who the hell would list halo? They showed absolutely NOTHING.... nothing... The most nothing burger trailer I've ever seen.... There is not a single human being outside of that studio who can tell you what that game is from a lion king stampede and a guy holding a halo helmet.
What a let down.

From what I've read, the gameplay is pretty original.
As I said, "despite the influences", the game sounds fairly original. And if not original, then it will take gameplay to new heights.
But, yes, I suppose superficially you are right; cyberpunk has been done by Bladerunner, Shadowrun, Deus Ex, and many more movies and games. I guess that is what has me excited; to finally see the great, mighty king of cyberpunk/neo-noir Deus Ex (original) dethroned. Deus Ex is my favorite game of all time, I want something like it again!
I imagine the amazing world crafters at CDPR will do the cyberpunk genre justice. Can't wait to see the various characters and game world.
To me it was The Last of Us 2.. I love the first one and looks like two is taking it to another level.
Battlefield V: the game was presented way better than its original reveal. Every following day I kept looking at new gameplay and new infor for the game. Game of the show for me.
Dying Light 2: Something I was hoping for, I was still surprised it was announced
Cyberpunk: The trailer is one of the best of this years E3
No game stole the show. But in terms of impressive showcases, probably Smash Brothers. I don't even like Smash brothers but boy did they showcase a lot and get everyone hyped up.
Remember the E3 showcase of the original TLOU? Was the final game actually like that? Not really. Same here with TLOU 2. The game will play well, but will be nowhere near the level of what we saw with it's open looking levels and it's life-like environmental interactions. It was essentially a gameplay bullshot.
EDIT: From Software's game was also a nice surprise.

I get your complaints about the trailer, but if you've been following the news people got a lot of extended hands on and details about it. Gameplay, scope, systems - there's a fair bit of info about it now from E3. And it sounds awesome.

In my opinion it set the tone and showed off the style of the game and that stuck a cord with me more than any other game this year. Okay, if the gameplay ends up looking shit then I'll change my mind and RE2 would be next on my list.
