Too many MS is gonna buy EA threads.
Can we have an EA is gonna buy MS thread, just for a change ?
Actually says Phil Spencer, maybe an employee, but not Microsoft.
I think that the two best options would be Capcom and Sega.
The last I heard, Capcom were not doing that great financially, so it probably would not cost that much for Microsoft to acquire them and it would instantly add many popular franchises spanning multiple different genres to Microsoft's exclusive lineup such as Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Dragon's Dogma, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter. Plus, I think that Japan's love of Monster Hunter may be the one thing that outweighs their hatred of the Xbox brand, so having Monster Hunter exclusive to Xbox is probably the best shot that Microsoft has to finally get Japan to start caring about the Xbox brand.
I also think that Sega would be a great acquisition. Microsoft and Sega have always had a great relationship and in many ways the Xbox brand is seen as a spiritual successor to Sega consoles, so it's a good fit in that regard. And Sega has a large and diverse lineup of popular franchises that would add tons of variety to the Microsoft's exclusive lineup. They would even get a mascot in Sonic out of it. It could also maybe lead to Xbox implementing backwards compatibility with the Dreamcast which would make many gamers very happy. Oh, and it could also lead to a solution to the Xbox controller's greatest flaw, it's d-pad. Imagine a redesigned Xbox controller that has a Sega Saturn d-pad; that would truly be the greatest controller of all time.

I'd love Phil Spencer to be the head of EA, he'd actually have some studios to work with.
Maybe they should work with the companies they've already worked with this gen, yeah? StudioMDHR, Armature Studio, Moon Studios, Remedy? Maybe buy some of them out, but not at the cost of their creativity or developer freedom? Not force them to chug out the same franchises like they did to Bungie and Epic?

Don't forget Rare. Who after their traditional games not doing so well on 360, was forced to work on Avatar and Kinect ****.
And it's the same thing with Remedy really: They wanted to make another Alan Wake, and while that game was succesful, MS didn't really want an Alan Wake. They'd rather have something to sell their "Television integration into games" idea. Some game to utilize this new TV studio they built. So they wanted to fund another Remedy projects as long as Remedy was willing to dance to their tune.
It seems like, when MS buys or funds a developer, the deal is pretty strict... allowing for little creativity.

I don' think Remedy will be working with Microsoft again

If anything they should return to Rockstar and make Max Payne 4 for them on Rockstar's RAGE engine.
I always hoped for an Alan Wake 2, but that would take both MS and Remedy. And MS never wanted to sponsor it. It's insane because Alan Wake was succesful, only nowhere near as succesful as Halo/Gears/Forza franchises and it seems to me all MS cares about is that next big thing.
It's something I like about Sony: they are willing to sponsor and publish games eventhough they won't turn into huge successes, but of course they hope they will. To me it's what makes Sony so succesful: they are willing to cater to niches. And they don't expect every game or sequel to become this next big thing.
I must admit, I love watching MS squirm because they have no good exclusives that they are trying to buy up 3rd parties. Which is the reason why Sony and Nintendo are successful, they don't buy up 3rd parties, but work hard by making exclusives with 1st and 2nd parties, instead of trying to buy there way to win.
@daredevils2k: Where in the process of development are Microsoft Studios halting? With game development going comparatively slow at Microsoft Studios 1st and 2nd party companies, where do you believe they can improve the most. I am Phil Spencer.
I think Playground as they already share tech with other MS first party studios and the relationship already exists. Horizon is hugely popular, and their other team is building a RPG (Fable) which will fill that genre gap in MS's first party. Would suck for MS if they got bought out from under their feet by someone else, similar to Bioware or Bizarre.
Also IO Interactive would be a great fit for Gamepass as they already have that episodic experience.

Easy give game companies a chance to make something new (like sony did with guerrilla games) . Good example was to let Lionhead studio work on Fable 4. Instead MS wanted a 3vs1 game (because ms was chasing a trend that never happened) with Fable franchise that it bombed before it was even released. MS needs to stop chasing whats trendy and allow their studios to be more creative.

Sega would be an intriguing option. They do have an array of both console and PC oriented IPs that would augment both sides of MS's gaming business.
Go buy Nintendo, so they can have Mario and Zelda lol
They buy Nintendo, and Japan disowns them.

To be fair Microsoft has taken risks with games this gen that they had to have known wouldnt sell millions upon millions- recore, sunset overdrive, ori and the blind forest, sea of thieves ect
Playground Games, Capcom, Insomniac, and David jaffe would be dope. All the companies have pretty good co-op/multiplayer games that would benefit with MS.
However looks like MS is investing in technology to help with game development so instead of buying studios, i can see them licensing tech to studios n publishing titles for pc/xbox releases.
I thought MS doesn't need to buy studios or companies because lems claimed Xbone doesn't lack games.
I read they are rumored to be also eyeing Valve, such a move would definitely strengthen the UWP. Plus MS would definitely have a killer app on their hands to be able to release Half Life 3.
Evidently Sony. Can't beat 'em, might as well own 'em LOL ?
Does that means we'll get Halo vs Killzone?
LOL Like Blue team wouldn't rip through the Helghast military like a hot knife through butter LOL
